M235i Dyno'd with BMS N55 Stage 1
Finally was able to get the car on the dyno this morning. The baseline was performed with the aFe Intake installed as I didn't want to waste time/money putting the stock intake on and off. The car delivered good numbers with just the intake alone. Looks like the torque numbers were higher than expected. My tuner said the 295.57 HP and 330.75 Torque is the highest stock numbers he has seen on his dyno for any stock N55 motor. That tells me we are getting a bit more power than BMW is letting on
With the N55 Stage 1 installed we see gains in both HP and Torque, but to be honest not what I was expecting from the BMS suggested gains posted on the website. The best was 323.15 HP and 365.67 Torque. A peak gain of +27.58 HP and +34.92 Torque. That said, for less than $400 and two easy connections to insert it still is a good deal for this car. I hope the JB4 Stage 2 running Map 1 puts out better number with the added controls. Last edited by Delnari; 08-16-2014 at 02:04 PM.. Reason: Naming |

Great numbers and I hope you are happy with the car! It seems very consistent and inline with what BMS states on their site without exhaust. Hopefully we can compare when I get mine strapped on the rollers.

Those are great gains for the Stage1! And down the road when you're ready for more power you can upgrade it to the JB4 Stage2.

If it's a 15% drivetrain loss it looks like m235i makes 340 hp and 380 tq so is say it safe to say it's under claimed like all n54 and n55 are

Is the JB4 completely plug and play? No cutting or splicing? Is there any trace at all left behind when you remove it? Can dealerships tell in anyway that you had it...like maps history or something?
I know with VW/Audi chips, the dealerships could see it and could tag your car and not honor the warranty in certain situations. |

My N55 Stage 1 for the N55 engine has a total of 2 connections. Both of which are factory style harness connectors that plug inline with the vehicle harnesses. There is no cutting or splicing of wires! No codes are present in the OBDII connection that I can read with my scanner. Return my vehicle back to stock is a simple matter of unplugging the 2 connections and plugging the factory connectors. It can swap in/out on the M235i is less than 5 minutes. This the reason I went with the Stage 1 setup instead of Stage 2 or more at this time.
For me this is a stop gap measure until the Dinan software is made available. I will sell my N55 Stage 1 for 1/2 the original cost here or EBAY once I get the new software for Dinan installed. The N55 Stage 1 is very small money for nice gains and you can add the 2nd module from Burger for under $200 to go additional stages. Last edited by Delnari; 08-16-2014 at 02:10 PM.. |

So the JB4 Stage 2 requires additional connections?
