Probably comes down to numbers, lots of GTIs out there. Early adoption of a new model usually sucks until enough cars are out there for the aftermarket to take interest.

It can't take much for them to modify an existing system to fit our car. Plus I would imagine the system for the M2 couldn't differ much from ours.

See link below about a YT clip of a modded f30 akra exhaust on an m135i here in Europe.
