Help me out, conundrum - DashCam
ok, I'm in a quandry, especially after canuk input
So my Dashcam project, not sure if I mentioned. Running a cable to the trunk, now, I got the "Official lead" , some 16AWG cable, some adda fuses, correct low amp mini-fuses, shrink wrap, heat gun and stripper Trying to do it right, cost me a bit, but I'm ok (generally speaking with it) Then today <banghead> I found that thinkware actually do a longer cable, so I don't need to splice some more on Don't know how I missed it, when I was looking around all the canadian sites, inc. amazon it only shows a standard length cable. On this video, (I missed ) they mentioned a LONGER cable and sure enough on Thinkware.com (US) they show a longer cable So some more searching on Canadian sites for this new part number, God I can't find it, thinkware only sends me to US, I found one "hole in the wall" that does it, but ships from manufacturer. Then I came across NEWEGG (and lots of different reviews from them) BUT Thinkware have a NEWEGG storefront and the part ships from Canada. https://www.newegg.ca/p/0PD-0077-000...9SIAJCCJMZ3067 49 bucks. Now I'm not sure what to do, dish out another 50 bucks and try and return or sell the old cable. or take the hit (older cable was about 30 odd bucks) plus all the other gear I got to make an extension cable and tools. Not a total waste but MEH So question 1> Go with the proper cable and dont splice cables 2> Go with what I have and splice up 3> Is newegg ok to work with especially as it's the thinkware store front much appreciated ! |
