I ordered some of these from China for my F15 and the bonding on the portion that sticks out is separating just after a week. I am now just seeing this post about adding the additional coat... has anyone ran into a similar issue? I wonder if the clear coat would’ve helped in my case?

I would guess that it wouldn't . My clear coat had started to yellow from the UV exposure. I am guessing a rock chipped it and in it's compromised state it started to flake off.

If yours was peeling off after only a week, it sounds like the clear coat never bonder properly. Putting a new coat over it would likely not solve the issue.

In my case though a uv stable clear coat should have protected mine. There wasn't a bonding issue with mine.

Just a guess though.

Ya, I probably clean it up a bit and add on a layer of UV resistant resin to at least slow down the yellowing. but end of day, caps can be replaced after a while.

I hear these m style caps add a bunch of wind noise. Can any owners verify this?

I have had them on for over a year. After I first installed them I thought there was a little more noise. I don't hear anything now. I really like the look.

Dang, ok thanks. As soon as I'm willing to get the m style caps, then I hear about someone having noise issues. Now I'm back to not liking them haha

I just put them on today and has a ton of high pitched wind noise... pretty bummed. Loudest at like 40mph. I also just washed it and water stays in these mirrors for like days lol. Gonna give it a few days and see if they still whistle once they are dried out. Got mine from IND by the way.

I like appearance, but I am not interested in extra wind noise. Plus not having them adds to the sleeper effect.

In my case it is a pretty loud high pitched whistle. I love the look but I couldn't put up with it for more than a day. IND is letting me exchange them for the painted black OEM mirrors.

My guess is the flare that creates some sort of wind tunneling; air gets forced through the small gap and creates a whistle? I might be talking crap but Im curious to know how do the M class have it down with no wind noise?

I bought abs plastic ones off ebay and painted them gloss black. The shape is similar to the ones KPT2 posted. I don't hear wind noise with them. Yet, I recently purchased ones that match my mineral white body color from Autoid in the UK. The body style is different though. There are two types of these m style caps for the 2 series out there. If you look on autoid you can see them. There are the m style ones and ones call "tre". The tre style has a more defined like and a straight edge for the wing. The other m style one is curved on the wing a bit and the line is much less defined.

My black original ones from ebay were the tray style. Going to install the autoid normal m style ones later this week I will report on wind noise if I hear it. Supposedly the autoid ones are pretty solid.

It's probably a good idea to decide on which style you want before even searching for the m style caps. Personally I don't like the straight edge of the tre caps. I think the curved wing looks more like the m style.

M2 does not come with the wing style mirrors as stock. They are used in the M3 and maybe others

I stand corrected, thanks. I was under the impression that the question asked was regarding the M2 that has been out for years and has many miles and lots of feedback. The M2 competition just came out last month.
