Cool M235i Stock Exhaust, Your Thoughts?

For you M235i owners with stock exhaust, how do you like it? Do you find yourself wanting a more aggressive exhaust note. From the sounds I've heard in the many M235i video reviews the exhaust note sounds sporty and somewhat throaty. It sounds impressive.

I'm of the thinking the stock exhaust note will be sporty enough, on the other hand I'm of the thinking YES get the M Performace exhaust. Perhaps BMW originally wanted to include the M-Performance exhaust as standard equipment for the M235i but decided to make it a factory ordered accessory in an effort to keep the base price affordable. I know its a stretch, just saying... Back to the stock exhaust, how do you like it? Do you plan on upgrading?

from my experience in my 335i, assuming the sound deadending is same in 235i, its quiet inside but loud enough for fun with just a downpipe, sometimes it comes to mine mind to remove some sound deadending material from engine bay but it may not be reversible.

even with my iPE at high speeds 190+ closed windows open mode which is literally too loud flybys but you still lose exhaust notes and won't be able to hear it much.

that day will come that will make me remove some of these shtt materials

It's more than loud enough for me without being obnoxious. I was thinking of going m performance exhaust but after I heard it stock, I was more than happy.
The interior noise is awesome too (active sound)

I love my stock exhaust as it is, especially with those dark exhaust tips it comes with. I do wish it was a little more throaty, so eventually I will go MPE or Dinan or something.

Also, Viva Guatemala! My wife is also from Guatemala I didn't know they had the M235i over there.

Sorry for the reply but... LOL!! And why can't we have the M235i over here? Are we a jungle with no roads or something like that? You as a husband of a guatemalan, should know that we're not "that" poor hahaha... we have Ferraris, Maseratis, etc in here man, you should come visit

I used to have the stock exhaust, then added the MPE. IMO, the stock exhaust was great and definitely loud enough. But it really wasn't as throaty and aggressive sounding as i hoped. Every time I went to punch it, i found myself wanting a little more. I added the MPE and its amazing! doesn't make it to much louder, but it really adds that aggressive and throaty sound that i was looking for. Also those gurgles when you let off the gas are just insane!

Always recommend going that route first and if you still need louder tone then start looking at aftermarket exhausts.

Stock exhaust is very nice. Full sound and pleasing. Played the tunnel exhaust game with a gent in Zurich in a tunnel in traffic - Slow down, gain space floor it and make nice sounds with his new 911 Carrera S and my M235i. Nice thumbs up from him. No mods necessary for better sound. Most gains add rasp. Detracts too much from the character of the car as is.

HFC DP adds to the exhaust's character rather detract from it.

If your state does not allow turbo-back exhaust modification (California ) then the MPE may be the way to go. I wanted a little more "oomph" from the exhaust on mine, so I went with the MPE and am set to have it installed next week.

I really like the stock exhaust (especially in Sport or Sport + mode), but it wasn't really the volume that made me want to go MPE, it was the quality -- I wanted a deeper, throatier sound. MPE does that without (I think) going overboard. You can still drive it around town and not alert everyone in a 5 block radius.

Whether you upgrade your down pipe, or just get an MPE, I think you'll be happy.
