Finally got my gauges apart to clean the dust out. What a FRUSTRATING process this was for a perfectionist like me.
Wipe lens clean. Set down. Clean dust from gauges. Lens is dusty again. Wipe lens. Gauges are dusty again. Round and round. Got it as perfect as possible but there are some microfiber fuzzies if the sun hits it. Oh well. I tried 10 different towels and got to the point that I was scratching the inside of the lens and the returns were... diminishing.

tried the xDelete app
after watching a bunch of videos on it, i decided to try the xDelete app to toggle x-drive on and off. now i know why all the videos have jump-cuts and fast-forwards or the magic happens off-screen. the app is absolutely maddening and failed to modify the x-drive at least two dozen times. maybe more. i was contemplating asking for a refund.
but it eventually did its thing and my 2018 m240ix is now an m240i. yeah, the car feels different. yeah, it feels rear-wheel. yeah, it feels less tank-y. i have not driven it enough to validate any of the internet claims that it might save gas. after all that money and install frustration im not exactly sure when i am going to really want to be rear-wheel only. i bought the x-drive version of the car because i wanted the x-drive sense of security. i wish toggling the x-drive was a button on the console next to the dampers control rather than having to pull out the cables and use that silly app. i was also contemplating the xHP app for modifying the shifting, but am holding off because its a bigger investment and have few doubts the install will be every bit as frustrating. |

Other than in winter, please share more about what you feel this actually is doing for you. What security do you feel you are experiencing?

I've gotten it for a while. Running on PS4S with RWD and minimizing the duller steering feel and helplessness of understeer from excess baggage up front. I can manage a bit of oversteer if it happens.

Took my car into a wheel shop because the dealer said my left back wheel had a dent on the inside and may be prone to losing air. I also had some very minor wheel rash on the same wheel. I get a call a little later and they tell me the front left wheel is also dented/bent. You have to love these California roads even though we pay the highest gas tax in the country to supposedly keep them in good condition. I'll show picks of the newly powder coated wheel. These guys are so good we'll see if anyone can tell the difference from original and refinished. This happened to me on a previous BMW...seems OEM wheels are somewhat susceptible to damage.

Gummi-pflege'd every single rubber seal on the F23. Geez, there's like a mile of rubber on the convertible. I even did the part that's hidden behind the rear. You have to have the top half up to see it. Cleaned out the whole interior and used Nextzett Cockpit Premium on all non-leather surfaces and shook out my CocoMats. I feel so much happier now when I get in the car.

I've got wood
I was hoping to put the MPerformance carbon fiber interior trim in my F23, but they no longer make the center trim with the hole for the convertible switch.
Now I am trying out a wood interior in a color I don't believe they offered in the states. So far I am pretty happy with it.

@TonM3 Is this 'fineline'? I ask because I've been experimenting with a portable laser engraver and concluded that this would be a good substrate on which to engrave: all the other trims are too reflective or dark. I've done some engraving on the Oyster leather and it worked much better than I expected. I was thinking about getting a used fineline dash or centre panel and giving it a try.
