Again, it appears you don't have enough octane to be running that map. Do as you wish though.

I don't think that's the issue now, I'm running between 95-97 octane. That low rpm knock seems to show up in quite a few people's 93 logs, including the one you said on the last page was much better.

All is well though. Keeping running it like that. I assume that's what you want to hear.

The issue isn't octane, it's altitude. I'm at 3,500ft, which means the turbo is working at least 15% harder to get the same boost. Looks like it's up against the upper limit of the turbo's efficiency at max RPM.
The answer isn't always octane, that one is relatively easy to correct. You guys at sea level get a bit more runway to work with. I have 15% less air density here, so turbo works a lot harder. Anyone above 3,000ft is probably going to have the same issue regardless of what fuel they use. The passive aggressive stuff isn't helpful either, most people aren't morons going wot on a knocking engine and ignoring advice. |

The timing cleaned up with E20, but I started getting high rpm knock at 5.5k and 6k. PTF seemed to think the turbo was creating a lot of heat at the higher rpm.

I also re-gapped the plugs and swapped the coils around. I didn't log it between changes, just ran a couple more after E20 and plugs that showed far less timing pull but worrisome knock. I think the tune is just a bit aggressive for either my fuel supply or this altitude.
The 91 log seems really good, but I'm not 100% convinced the gas here is up to snuff until I run a tank without all the adders. http://www.bootmod3.net/log?id=5b1f1da5d10b4355bc6a667d |

I didn't cover everything chronologically, sure initially it was probably octane or a combo of octane and the wrong plug gap. But the high rpm knock seemed to be related to the heat coming off the turbo when I ran it after. I still don't see how 94 octane plus 30 point booster would be insufficient for a 93 tune unless other stuff was going on. I only put 2 gallons of e85 to see if it would clean up the timing 100% but it didn't. I'd like to see if anyone has a clean log at high altitude on that tune, from looking around briefly there were folks in Denver and elsewhere with similar timing pull. I don't think fuel quality is limited to the coastal regions. My initial logs on 93 showed the turbo putting out 15.5lbs of boost which would be close to 18lbs with sea level air density.

Minor update, Halim from Bootmod3 adjusted my boost target down to 14.3lbs, according to the wastegate duty cycle I was maxing out the turbo on both Stage 2 tunes. Hoping I can still run the OTS 91 tune, the car felt great on it and the wgdc hit 100% on both the custom and 91 tune at the same 6,200 rpm.
