Your other question I honestly have no idea, check the Dr. Stragelove thread or ask it there. Those guys know everything. I do not think you need to do anything when working with stock speakers. The only real issue that I know about that is fixed with ASD harness is there was a mistake there with the BMW wiring that the harness if you buy new now fixes, if you get an old one you need to swap two wires. Again Dr. Stragelove has all the info. |

Good to know. I installed mine last night - a bit tough getting it into the space between the hinges and fender area, especially with my fat stubby fingers, but I think I have them properly and completely installed. Can't say I notice any sound difference but again I have a vert so I wasn't expecting any change.

I just realized the first page of the thread lists two different part numbers:
From the OP: EDIT: I think the first page of this thread needs an update. Most people have agreed that the seals have decreased noise in the cabin. The seals are available for as low as $9.45 each. Left side part- #51-48-7-348-779 Right side part- #51-48-7-348-780 and from Sportstick: Part info is: Driver side: 51-48-7-300-693 Price: $23.63 Passenger side: 51-48-7-300-694 Price: $22.96 I ordered and installed the parts referenced by Sportstick, but they look just like the pictures posted by the OP. "Very intervesting"

If you say so. I read different part numbers and different prices.

My recollection of working this through with the parts manager is that there are two sets of parts, closely related in location. The price difference was similar to what we're seeing in this thread and the more expensive (although still relatively cheap!) parts were the ones which matched the OP's original photo. I wish I could recall the exact terminology used, but the parts under $10 each are not the same as the ones I bought, the taller vertical "stuffers" we've seen in the photos. If anyone has bought the low cost parts and can show that they are the same as the tall stuffers, please let us know...perhaps photograph the parts label with the number which came attached.

They do have different part "numbers" and different prices. Many people have posted in this thread that they have ordered the cheaper priced part number, they fit exactly the same as the more expensive ones. My BMW parts guy looked up the part in his computer. He just happened to source a less expensive cross reference of the same part. My car came from the factory with one strip on the passenger side. I installed the drivers side strip that the parts guy ordered for me, it looks exactly the same as the factory installed strip on the passenger side. Installed the weather stripping this weekend and I'm very happy with the improvement. Install took 10 minutes on the first side and 2 minutes on the second side. The car is like a library (with the sunroof shade closed) now. Well worth the $30.

If anyone is still interested.... I stopped into the Motorwerks BMW parts dept. this morning to order the sound insulation parts and found the reason for the difference in part numbers. The 693/694 numbers are for the coupe as per the parts diagram and the 779/780 numbers are for the convertible. I don't know what the difference would be. Same doors.

Just had a look at MY16 M2 and no door seals! I only collected the car last Friday and it was the first long drive this weekend and I did notice when driving at high speed I needed to turn up the volume on the Music, then when slowing down I had to reduce the volume. I thought it was the bloody hum from the false sound thing but maybe I need these door parts.
I have just posted this question in the M2 section....http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1378394 lets see what other M2 owners say! Are these parts visible at all from the outside, when the door is closed? Last edited by illingworth22; 04-26-2017 at 05:01 AM.. |

No offense, but if you wanted a performance car with a quiet cabin, you should have bought a CTS-V.

220i coupe Oct 2016 production date delivered Feb 2017 has both seals on the 2 doors.
Since I picked the car new I could hear tyres and road noise more than the few beema's we had before, so if I would to have missed on those insulation strips, I'd be on them tomorrow like a cheap suit. Current issue? - the rattles from the plastic covers over hooks on back seat and behind back glass - really cheap fit out that I'm taping off the rattles. Oh the first world issues ! - love the car, esp after giving it heavy long drive and engine starting to come alive. Last edited by Gabriel101; 04-30-2017 at 08:13 AM.. |

Hi,
Question to everyone who installed these strips: - are the glued in (peel of strip) - the phone on the first page shows them being added to the door but the pic on the second page shows them added to the door frame What is correct or doesn't it make any difference |

You just push them in. Takes a little fiddling. A 12" ruler will help.
