Good point. Depends on your MB dealer.

I also wasn't willing to pay an artificial premium for one - that BMW themselves created by telling everyone there was a limited production. Could have produced the same number of cars and just said that they would make as many as it made sense to make....some dealers were marking them up to insane numbers. If there's a normal production run with the M2, there won't be an artificial price premium, and it will be the "obtainable" M car that the 1M was meant to be

given the cost of an M sport 435i, with a performance exhaust and a spoiler and diffuser, I personally think the M235i is a damn good deal at 44k.
I need a set of 19's, and the M performance suspension, and I am good to go.

I'm confused with Msport suspension and the Msport "sports" suspension!?!?!?!?
So order Msport brakes from the get go it's in blue and if aftermarket it comes with red, orange and yellow? Only option that is really smart is to offer LSD for the track junkies

I just don't see BMW making a full production M car below the M3. The M3 has been their baby for a while now and that is probably never going to change except for one year here and there. |

I would agree if the M3 hadn't become such a balloon. Or if they were still making a Z4MC. Gotta have a little, relatively light performance coupe. At least if you wanna still use the "ultimate driving machine" moniker.

I see a lot of N54 owners going to the M235 as a second choice car if they are not able to pocket the M4
I have a funny feeling though, there will be a M235is with DCT in the last couple of years of the N55 motor like they did the N54 <3 M234 + DCT |

For the suspension, the BMW M235i comes standard with variable M sport suspension. This is tighter and lower than the sport suspension, and you can change the damper settings via the iDrive. The BMW Performance M suspension is a fixed suspension set up, and is even more sporty (I think on the F30 10 mm lower). So for suspension, it goes something like this Standard (i.e 228i) Fixed Sport (228i) Variable M Sport (M235i, option on 228i) M Performance Suspension

I like it! They didn't over-"bling" the design like I had feared.
I guess this will also get the electric steering. 4 series suddenly looks pointless to me.

This is a huge improvement over the previous model's styling, but it still looks a bit stunted.
My sense is that the right way to design this car would have been to go for a lift back design. The chassis is too short for Coupe styling. If this car was a lift-back it would be truly sexy. Also needs a wider grille, a-la Z4.

Given that there is only .83" difference in rear legroom vs. the 1 series, you better hope they are small adults. That is only thing I don't like about the new 2 series, and it had a lot to do with why I bought a 435 instead of holding out another 6 months. While the overall dimensions are similar to the old e46's (of which I have owned two), the rear seat room is better suited for children. At least with the 46's, you could comfortably carry adults.
