An old pass me down 320i is understandable but a brand new M2? Seems a bit much to me. |

I'm not saying every kid that ever has a car like that bought for them has no respect for it but I feel it's a trend. Statistics are probably on my side on that one. |

Granted, I am EXTREMELY fortunate to have gotten into a start up before it blows up. I was invited to a convention with the company originally to do mostly administrative work but ended up shouldering a large portion of sales and decision making and ended up bringing in more than 50% of the company's sales for the 4 day period. The CEO heard from the COO and was impressed, and they pulled me in to tell me that in 4 years if I wanted a full-time, salaried position at the company after college, I could. The car was $37.8K. I contributed $16K down and pay for the majority of the rest (probably about 90%). My parents mostly only help with the insurance, which is the case with a lot of teenagers. |

I say, "if you can, do it". If not, push until you can make your dream, a reality. For some, it's a car, for others it's a mansion or business venture. Whatever it is, never let anyone convince you of your own conviction, that is your unstoppable momentum!

Interesting, in an offhand way, but does anybody actually reconsider buying one b/c it is 'out of their age range'?

26. Full time job in IT as well! Co-founded a company although its in the super early stages with a looong road ahead. No college loans (Full ride scholarhips! ) so I figured I would get myself a nice present. I can't help but feel guilty for buying it though.. came from poverty so its weird to buy something that cost more than my dad's yearly salary x 2...

its amazing to see people still voting on this poll that i started over 3 years ago.
it's also interesting to see the age demographic dropping. My tip to potential future owners, dont burn your bank on a m235i. I've sold mine after 3 months and bought a f80 m3 and there's a huge gap. Just get a used one for cheap and keep saving for bigger things. |

I'm tickled to see that the 50+ group is fairly well represented.
Retired and living the dream!

The whole point of the m235i is to not "burn the bank".. What are you on, man? "Just get a used one, cheap"? You know, those cheap ones are usually ready for $10-15k in maintenance as well, not to mention we're WAY passed the ability to save at this point. If you want to save, you never buy a full on M car, ever. Worst advice I've ever heard of. And BTW, the M3 is a great car, we have an M4 in the family, but not what many here were looking for when we purchased our 2's. It is a fast car, but very different experience, and in terms of size, is the new 5-series.. Glad you're happy in your M3, though. And thanks for starting a great thread
