The M2 seems to be priced quite reasonably, I will most likely make the jump in the distant future.. look forward to seeing the feedback from those that buy it.. maybe even take me for a spirited drive (looks at Don)

Haha Vince, you would need to find someone else. I have lost interest after the full release of the current car. Looking at other options for 2016

Probably one of my favourite cars I've owned... Such a great handling car! It's not underpowered like the 86 and it's not overly too much power where you can't control it. Love it.

I'd be lying if it didn't make me think twice on my F80 order at 50k more. If 120 I will feel better. Apparently it's boarding the ship so hopefully end of January?? |

Hi all, I have just placed an order for the M2. The prices quoted by WAY are spot on... I ordered a PURE M2 - white with sunroof.. cost $105K drive away in NSW.
I think that's great value for the car - manual, rear wheel drive, big engine, lots of grunt, M-handling. Nothing else in the market comes close I think apart from the Cayman S. The AMGs (A, GLA and CLA) and the RS3 are all great cars - but not manual and RWD. Can't wait till it gets here. |

Congrats 8y8. I have mine down for a DCT M2. I assume yours will come in April? I've asked for a later delivery as it suits me better. I think the M2 is going to be sensational!

Thanks mate. Dealer has said car will either arrive April or May 2016. I have had a deposit on the car for six months now, so hoping it will be one the first ones in the country.

I'm hoping to get mine July or so. I have a few other cars and a couple coming between now and July too. My spec is just a M2 DCT in LBB. I'm not a fan of sunroof either so no roof for me just like my 3 recent M3/4.

Stopped by at BMW today, like most have said 105k for pure and 115k for dct driveaway.
The m3/m4 is looking like a bargain at the moment... $150k and 165k driveaway before negotiations. So many options now come standard, full leather led light etc. I'd assume at least 10k off m3 pricetag... So 25k difference is a bit of a no brainer...

The M2 is the pick in my opinion. With the removal/reversal of the factory detune designed not to piss off M3/4 owners, it should be quicker.
If I wasn't early days into the M235 I would be very very tempted. Knowing myself I had better stay away from the local dealership for a year or so...... |

If you look at the engine bay of the M2 vs M3/M4, it looks completely different... apart from pistons, forged crankshaft, crankshaft barrings and spark plugs, overall it's a hugely different engine with completely different engine block and different turbo system.

Here's an interesting tit bit from another forum:
Today I had the Jan Edition of Car magazine pop through my letter box this morning and lo and behold a 12 page spread on the M2 and M4 GTS,but more focus on the M2. Interviews with Frank van Meel, the new M Sport boss and Frank Isenberg, the M2 designer. Some interesting facts 1) Weight has been kept down by ripping out most of the sound deadening and of course the aluminium components in the suspension etc.....Does make me wonder about noise levels. 2) For the skeptics quote:"The regular M4 has has a broader brief than the M2;it allows the M2 to be purer"......Like has been said for a while,a rawer and more focused machine. 3) The M2 will be faster round a tighter track than the M4. 4) This is an interesting one, there will be no M1 above the M135, so the people that are holding out for this are going to be very disappointed. |

Whether it's faster on a track... I'm unsure... the M2 should be a lot more nimble... however when you look at the numbers I'm unsure. M3/M4 on the outside seems like a lot "bigger" car... but when you look at power weight ratio... M3/M4 still have a pretty big advantage. M4 317kw@1537 and M2 272kw@1495 As for the new "1M" thought it was clear there was no intention whatsoever to have a hatchback version of the M2.
