I am hoping that some of the rags get ahold of this car soon too--I always like different perspectives on how the car feels...plus we can get some additional looks at it from new angles and hopefully other colors.

Agreed. Hopefully it's not the dumbed down E92 that the E82 was. I haven't read many glowing reviews of the M135i, but of course the same is true of the F3x too.

Just noticed 228i with all the options might be under 40k but remember there might be incentives. Plus we have to see the actual invoice price on the car when it comes out this is basically the suggested retail price so who knows how much we could knock off every little but helps

I also always felt like my current N55 is not as strong or powerful as my original N54 was--so this 325 BHP in the M235 should feel more like the N54 was stock (obviously underrated). Slap a new diffuser on this baby and it will be a looker for sure...but the steering feel is one thing that I am anxious to hear more about...I have loved the "heavy" feeling in all of my BMWs...

The second was the one wheel drive aspect of a car with tons of torque. I will not repeat that again. The steering was actually heavier than I would have preferred, something more like my M Coupe or an E46 M3 would have been about right. I do doubt that the EPS in the F22 will be anywhere near as good as those, or even the E82. It's not apples to apples since our X1 is much heavier than our 135i and has awd, but I too miss the power of the N54 when compared to the N55. |

When you guys are talking about a $2k or however much LSD, are we talking about the same kind of LSD that makes your car not a one-wheel wonder, that is to say a $50k car with M badges on it that's branded as a performance car is a one-wheel wonder? If that's the case, that's absolutely ridiculous...about as ridiculous as the price for the LSD, something that costs maybe 300 bucks on domestics if it isn't standard already, which it pretty much always is these days.

Fully agree. xDrive is simply not a performance all wheel drive system. The extra weight along with the poor dynamics of driving the front wheels makes the car not as track worthy. If the car had Torque vectoring like the S4 or GTR, that would be a different story.
My wife drives my RWD E46 through Michigan winters with snow tires with no issue. While there's no question that AWD improves performance on snow/ice, the vast majority of people would be fine without it if they just made sure to keep the proper tires on their car. So instead of everyone whining about not having xDrive available, just save some money and buy a set of winter wheels and tires. Problem solved. Quote:

Trying to decide if the M235i is worth another $7,100.
Need to add a commuter car to the stable. Thinking about the 228i with M-sport and Lighting package vs. M235i no options. |

Probably depends on how "exciting" your daily commute is.

In looking through the Order Guide I read this...."2TR(18" double-spoke 436M wheels w/ all season tires) will delete 840(Increased top speed limiter) from the order. I am reading this as, if you order the All Season Tires you lose the 155mph capability, limiting you to the lesser 130ish mph. Is this right?

I'm sure you can already place an order. Just have to figure which dealer has allocations available for you to place one. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere in this forum that a member has already placed one.

You just need to see which dealer has allocations and you can place your order now. If you want to do ED, you need to wait about a month's time. |

item 818 Battery switch (STD)?
last item page 7
Is this the same switch with the impact sensor that cuts power to the alt., fuelpump, starter and turns on the warning / interior lights? or a battery switch new on recent BMW's (per my dealer mechanic) which cuts off power from nonessentialls and keeps battery from going dead when in winter or otherwise when car is not driven frequently? or something else? If the M235i came with a DCT tranny opposed to the ZF 8HP, I would more than likely pull the trigger on this car.
IMO this car is a bit pricey for how it's built. I believe most people are with me here on this. The people who are excited that the price is around the same as the 135is (actually appears to be $450 cheaper) need to realize the transmission is not the same. It's equipped with a much cheaper cost to the manufacture transmission. From my research, the ZF 8HP tranny saves the manufacture costs by 20% opposed to the DCT, which is a huge saving to BMW. At any rate, the only good news from this is they are probably going to put the DCT in the M2. And that should be one hell of a car that I will not pass up on. |

Just noticed Msport on the 228 deletes fogs, ugh I hate cars without fogs, looks so incomplete and we know from foreign markets there isn't actually a functional reason to delete them, it's a bean counter choice.
That in itself could almost make me go with a sportline in valencia orange. trade off there is the hideous steering wheel. just cant have your cake and eat it too |
