What a deal! We can get 25% off from Sun Motors every day. You would think that as a gesture of goodwill for their screw up they would at least offer to fill the orders at their cost. That way they don't lose money and the customers get an excellent deal, albeit not as good as they thought they were getting. Accepting orders at 50% off and then offering 15% sounds a lot like bait and switch to me.

Got my cancellation last Monday, the way it's playing out they won't sell anything below their cost so basically little to no loss to them other than overtime to their employees!

No business will sell that many parts below their costs.

Yes, and I do my best to make up for them. I don't think anyone here that realizes a mistake was made is asking them to lose money, but they need to try a little better then they are.
Again, I had a legit 35% off in hand, I called and confirmed (part by part) with them that this was legit before ordering (to avoid it if there was an error). Now I'm screwed and no longer have access to the 35% offer. Their error is costing me well over $500, so the 15% off offer is a bit of an insult. |

I've been emailing back and forth with John Bailey at Leith. They're not going to honor any of the 50% off orders on MP parts. John is a good guy who has been stuck in the middle of this nightmare (his term for it). Yes, it was a mistake, and yes, 335BOY, we all make mistakes. What's important though is how we handle and rectify those mistakes. An offer of 15% off when we can get 25% off every day at Sun Motors is not handling the mistake well. The way this should have been handled was with an email to everyone who ordered MP parts explaining that it was a mistake and offering to fill the orders at their cost for the parts. I don't think anyone here expects them to lose money on a huge pile of orders, but making the 15% offer is an attempt to make money on their mistake. I do feel for John, though. He's not calling the shots on this but he's the one having to deal with the fallout. I ordered the parts I wanted from Sun.

I've seen people claim they received MP parts already, so clearly not all were cancelled.

This is a direct quote from the last email I received from John, "We are unable to honor the 50% off." If people have gotten MP parts at 50% off, I guess they were either lucky or the parts got shipped before Leith decided what they were going to do.

After not getting my grills for 50% off I ordered through sun motors and they didn't give me 50% but pretty damn close to it where I didn't even hesitate to make the purchase.

I may have lucked out because they quickly accepted my money and shipped a part that was unnecessary without the difuser. Again, they have been consistent with honoring my order, but the inconsistency across the board definitely worries me. Everyone who is saying just let it go doesn't realize that they are only losing money on the big parts. So, I understand why they are doing everything they can to cancel those orders, but the difference between their price and SUN for the difuser was only $70. Obviously SUN is not selling at a loss, so for those who only ordered one item and especially those who called and confirmed it is not impossible for them to match or beat the SUN price. They are unwilling to sell these parts for anything but at 100% profit margin or eat the shipping cost on these big items and deal with the customer service end, but they really should. As I have said before there were literally a million ways they could have prevented this. From an ethical and legal standpoint anyone who called and placed their order foregoing a different offer of say 35%, should have their orders honored within reason (obviously not selling at a loss).

Sun is equipped to sell at their prices. Leith is not. To make an example out of a hyperbole - mom and pop shops going on a price war with Walmart would probably be out of business in six months. Walmart operates on a scale which allows them to be more cost effective. It's economics. Leith probably spends much more time dealing with these orders, especially now that this has caused so much of an issue. They likely can't offer Sun's prices without losing money.
It isn't just about selling at cost. Services provided to deliver goods is always inherently tied to the sale price. That's why you have a manufacturer suggested retail price and discounts on those.

When someone gets trampled in front of walmart on black friday, they don't cancel the sale or use it as an excuse to close, they write the guy a check and let everyone else keep shopping. Both dealerships are located in similar parts of the country, so I can't imagine shipping and handling fees would be so much more for Leith. Also they are dealing with a definite amount of orders it would not take long to figure out what they could sell the parts for without everyone losing their jobs and sell them for a dollar more than that. It's not like the orders just keep pouring in and they will never catch up. You can't expect me to believe that for some reason Sun can sell their parts for 35% less than Leith because their shipping and handling costs are so different. Leith is used to making a boat load on every M performance order and because of this mistake they cannot do that and so they are upset. I don't get how the consumer is supposed to absorb the difference as opposed to the multi billion dollar corporation that is BMW. If they had just cancelled both of my orders I would already have the part from SUN. That being said I am willing to be patient and continue to believe that my order will be honored when they can obtain the parts, but I will not wait forever. At some point it is just not worth it, but nobody in here has any business standing up for this dealership until those with problems have the opportunity to rectify them. For those of you who are so forgiving of others mistakes, I suggest you bring back a leased car all banged up and just tell them it was a mistake so its all good. Hell that's what I'm gonna tell my boss next time I screw up a huge deal, my bad sir I made a mistake. Imagine doctors telling patients sorry I made a mistake. I'm sure they will just let it go. I'm surprised there is not more support the one time the BMW dealership actually makes a mistake which prevents them from ripping you off on parts. If I posted on here that I just picked up a difuser and lip for 1200 I would get laughed at for spending so much when I could have went to SUN.
