I want a 228 M Sport, pretty damn fast and handling should be great due to weight. Had 3 E46 M3's and really miss them and this may be the replacement.

So glad the headlamps don't meet the kidney grilles. I've photoshopped paint over every model that currently features this design and they all look better without the kidney intersection.

Yup. Also, not crazy about the design on either car. Looks dated, and too reminiscent of the e82 (which I personally dislike). Have BMW seen the CLA and the A3? But performance wise, BMW delivered! The numbers are definitely there. N55 on this setup will be bonkers. Very impressive on paper. I can't see how they can justify an M2 at this point. It may end up being a glorified M235i with a body kit. And yikes! Starts at $44k? xDrive, premium, tech, LSD, M performance parts ... What $60k + tax? Sorry, but definitely not worth that much. |

As attached as I am to my F30, I'm considering a trade for the M235. Awesome car!!

xDrive confirmed???
Is xDrive confirmed for the 228i or M235i?
Did I miss it somewhere? Based on the price point and the offering of a LSD, I predict no M2 and if it comes to the US, at least not until M235i LCI comes out. If anything, might see a 220d before you see a M2... That's just my opinion though, I'd love to see this car on steroids! |

Very excited to test drive both cars. I hope the looks grow on me, but right now Im not feeling this. A bit let down actually. I'm so hoping the e46 proportions and driving dynamics make up for it.

yayayaya i just want to buy it now
Some things: 1. According to the press - AUTOMATIC IS STANDARD???? Geezus that makes my decision a lot harder. You can't deny the better MPG and faster auto. I have never owned a manual car, and I really want too, but the automatic being standard seems too good to be true! 2. The press also states the M235i only comes in 3 dakota leather options. I am guessing that will be beige, black, and red. Makes me sad because I don't like any of those : (. I really like the combo colors such as oyster/black 3. The price is a little bit higher then I expected, but it definitely comes with more things standard. It has the variable sport steering and dampers. I hope xenon comes standard, and I assume it will for the M235i.. 4. First mods for me are a more aggressive CF diffuser and CF mirrors other than that, its amazing!!

Let's both keep our fingers crossed. Honestly, I'm willing to consider a RWD with a mechanical LSD as well. The MLSD is Very rare in this day and age, and is unheard of at this price point, to my knowledge. |

Would you be looking to let go of your M3 if you liked the M235i or do you plan on keeping it and having 2 cars?

With my Honeymoon in Germany next September, I might have to do a ED on a M235.
This looks to be a good replacement of my '11 STI. And throw a Cobb AP and a few other goodies, this puppy is gonna be quick. I have loved my Subaru but its time for something more and this M235 has it.

$44k isn't "that" bad considering that's about what the 135iS is going for. HOWEVER, considering the 228i is a whopping $11k cheaper, then it makes you think. And it's not like that car is slow either. 5.4s used to be supercar territory 15 years ago haha. Oh and not that many people care, but mid 30 mpg highway too. Do a European Delivery and this thing might come out to low 30s with a few options! Not too shabby at all. The only thing I hope is that I don't need to get 3 packages just to get xenons.

Has an M2 been confirmed? I don't remember seeing that and I don't buy that claim. There is nowhere for an M2 to fit in terms of performance or price.

btw for those of you 228 curious folks
http://jalopnik.com/the-fancy-new-ma...sed-1451673737 A3 sedan will start at 29k. CLA starts at 29k. For 3k more you get RWD + ~30 more hp. Win win for BMW IMO

Personally, I want the faster, better-handling car with the hand-built, sand-cast engine.
