Audi can build the R8 because they can share project costs with Lamborghini, infact the Gallardo and R8 are based on the same platform and the V10 engine is the same. Mercedes can afford to build a SLS/AMG GT because they sells a lot of A-class, B-class, V-class, CLA, GLA, GLK, and you know what? They are all FWD cars. BMW is trying to do wat Mercedes is doing since mid 90s. I prefer a BMW that sells this MPV and a sporty RWD 3 series than something like WV group that build that awful FWD/AWD A4/A5.

Dont like the oversized headlights and taillights, it looks unproportional to the size of the car..
from the rear it looks too much like mercedes b class.. its jusr commercial model, no emotion.. |

And the worst part is that people will buy this effing thing...but if I needed a bigger vehicle for my family, it would be something different than this.

I don't care about FWD, and hell I wouldn't care if BMW did make a sweet minivan. But this is just plain awful looking. People here keep calling it a minivan. In reality, it just looks like a minivan minus the practicality of a minivan. The doors open instead of slide. It's also quite small, so don't think of putting 7 people in here with all your gear and going cross country to visit grandma.
Seriously, what is this car for? People who hate life I think. Tall and lumbering, yet small, impractical, and underpowered. I honestly can't figure it out!!! |

If this is true, we have lost the small, sporty, RWD coupe that we all love. I won't ever get a 4er--it's just too damn big... Sigh....

Small, sporty, RWD-based coupe will most likely be the sports car developed in collaboration with Toyota. Rumor has it will be a plug-in hybrid: Z3 eDrive on BMW's side, and Prius Coupe on Toyota's side. Platform, drivetrain & powertrain will be developed together - while each model will feature different design & body styling. It looks like Prius Coupe will be a true 4-seater while Z3 will be a 2+2-seater. The layout is rumored to be similar to i8: ICE in the rear + electro motor in the front. Although the car won't utilize the BMWi-specific LifeDrive platform - but it will be a conventional body frame with some CFRP parts. Also the styling will be in line with core BMW brand not with BMW i sub-brand styling. Future UKL-based 2er Coupe will most probably offered in AWD-only variant in some markets like eg. US. At least the M Performance variant (M235i xDrive). |
