Ordered mine and got them a few weeks ago. Got around to installing them today. Not too bad. Took some figuring out of what went where. Took me maybe 20 mins. No pics, but don't think they would show anything others already haven't.
Jury still out on difference, but I'm a 'drive it like you stole it' kind of person and since I put them on I had my Dinantronics Stage 2 Tune installed and i've been - let's say, experimenting... Greg

The hinge area is outside of the door seal, but within the bodywork. It may be that it cleans up the airflow in that space, or stops a flow of (turbulent?) air from the engine compartment. It may also be a placebo effect I did wonder about loss of cooling in the engine compartment but I'm sure that must be negligible. |

I got these about a week or so after ordering them, but didn't get around to installing them until this past Thursday. Wasn't too bad. Probably would have cut my install time by two-thirds if I'd had help from someone who had or if I had done it before.
Top is easy to figure out. Bottom had me perplexed and even had driver's side wrong until I did passenger side and figured out how it was to sit. No pics and not sure if it made a difference (because the next day I had the Dianatronics Stage 2 Tune installed and I've been driving around trying to make the car make more noise since... Thanks for the offer though! Greg

I had some road noise reduction in mine, but it's all subjective lol. engine noise wasn't bad to begin with (and probably through speakers anyway!)

I really see no need. My 228i is quiet as a church mouse with the moon roof closed and comfort mode selected. It is a little louder with the SPORT setting with active sound.

Maybe difficult to quantify but have you noticed any cooling issues since installing seals ? Also, has wind/road noise reduced ? Has intake noise become more noticeable ? Cheers, BP [another south UK based forum user]

Installed on m235 and noticed less tire noise and wind noise at speed. No issues on cooling. Didn't notice aNY change in induction sound but 100% stock.

2 ) Yes. Not massively, but noticeably so. FWIW, I have ASD disabled in my car, so the interior is quieter to start with. 3 ) Not in the least.

It's hard to tell what but I felt that the overall noise levels dropped after I fitted them; probably a combination of road (tyre) and wind noise although there must be some engine noise too. I was early in the running-in period when I fitted them, I've since finished that and am driving "normally" now. I think the cruising noise levels are good, though not quite as quiet as my 3. I still get a characterful vroom at higher rpm but that doesn't last long before speed limits get in the way. |

Hi all. I'm new here. I just picked up a 2016 228i Convertible about a month ago. Anyway, I stumbled across this thread and after reading it, I rushed outside to see if I had the weather-strips. Indeed, my 01/2016 production vehicle does have them.

I got both pieces of the insulation for $26 from Brian at Sun Motors. As the others have said, it went in quite easily. Without it you can even see light through the door to the fender well. Kind of felt cheap. I feel better now!

So does this look normal? Apologies for the dirty car, it hasn't rained here in awhile so the car was dusty, and we got a slight sprinkle today, go figure.
The rest of the weather stripping fits fine but the bottom seems odd. If that's how it's suppose to look then it looks kind of cheap. |
