The problem with that M235i pricing is that after you add some packages & options, you'll be in preowned 1M territory. I'd much rather have the real thing.

Search KBB, Cars. Com, autotrader. Com and there is 1 1M within 250 miles of me and they want $61K for it with 10k miles on it. They built less than 1,000 for the US so they can pretty much ask what they want for it that one has been listed for at least 3-4 months if not longer.

They have a lot of old listings but the search engine they use gets just about everything but Craigslist.

I just recently ordered a M235i and I chose pretty much every option except park assist, driver assist plus and automatic high beams. This car will have more equipment than was available on a 1M. The MSRP is 51,800. I guess if you want to stretch the meaning of the term you could consider this "mid 50s", I wouldn't. I had a 1 series M for 6 months. I bought it new for $5k over retail with the agreement that I could sell it back for the exact price as long as it was still in new condition. That's what I did, I wish I would have kept it longer. I could have still sold it for that price 2 years later. I didn't think it was all that special myself. Personally I would rather have a brand new M235i than a 2 year old, used, almost no warranty 1M. The one thing the 1M has going for it is incredible resale value. I doubt you can buy anything else as new that will retain it's value better.

Next time BMW launches something and only sells 1,000 in the US I'm buying one. Crazy prices on the 1M's on the used car websites.
