The first set of numbers where the stock baseline numbers for that car. The next set of numbers were the Stage 1 ECU flash tune with no other mods.
I think we are 95% there for the Stage 1 tune. We'll finish up a few small things when we have another N55 on the dyno this next week. |

Any plans to upgrade the Chargepipes and FMIC with stage 3? I have AFE intake, Treadstone Chargepipes, ATM FMIC. If Stage 2 & 3 need a downpipe then I will plan on a downpipe too. Put with your stage 3... On 93 Octane... |

Stage 1: tune only with no mods Stage 2: addition of downpipe and optional more free flowing exhaust State 2+: additional charge side cooling (e.g. FMIC) Stage 3: turbo upgrades Stage 4: custom with 100 octane or greater For those able to run 93 (not us out here in CA ) we make a more aggressive 91 tune that adapts up to 93 that gives you a little more umph. We really don't consider charge pipes as part of how we tune as they are mainly an upgrade to deal with dependability when running higher boost levels. |

So I'll be getting a DP then Did I read somewhere correctly that the tune will remove the CEL for a catless downpipe? |

Free tune for 228i/328i/428i for vehicle in SoCal
We are looking for an F22 228i or F30 328i or 428i with auto trans in SoCal to test the latest iteration of our tune. We will provide the tune for free along with dyno baseline and post tune dyno run. All our testing so far has been on manual car and we just want to make sure there are no anomalies with the auto cars. If you don't want to keep the tune in your car we will return the car to stock.
PM me if you are interested. |

How's the M235i tuning going ? Can you Post the before and after dyno sheet on that tune ? Has there been any issues with Misfire ?? What boost can be achieved on the EWG N55 platform ? What AFR's are targeted ?

No issues with the "misfire" (I'm assuming you are referring to torque limit) so it looks like the M235i cars don't have the same torque limit variable as the standard N20/N26 auto cars. Are you asking what the max boost is or what our target boost is? Our target AFR is 12.3 for these DFI cars. This is a variable in the map so we can just ask the car to target that AFR in the code. Pretty straight forward. |

Thanks for the information.
Can I ask a few other questions please: 1. Why are we targeting at AFR of 12.3 when stock is 12.8-13 ? 2. Yes what is the Target Boost ? 3. What other parameters are changed in the tune ? 4. Is this the Stage 1 tune ? Any other modifications or is it a stock car ? 5. Im sure I saw a thread where torque limits on M235i were reached causing misfires - My Bad Overall the Dyno graph looks pretty good but the numbers 280HP for stock car I assume this is ATWHP ? Thanks for assisting with my questions. Quote:

1. Why are we targeting at AFR of 12.3 when stock is 12.8 ? >> Stock is 11.8 2. Yes what is the Target Boost ? >> In the code we don't necessary ask for more boost, we ask for more torque and the ECU gives us the boost to achieve that torque. We have a 435i on the dyno right now and will let you know increase in boost based on the latest revision. At the other dyno we weren't logging boost for that M235i. 3. What other parameters are changed in the tune ? >> Primarily we are dealing with fuel, timing, boost and vanos and a smattering of other variables to deal with some of the limits that live in the code. 4. Is this the Stage 1 tune ? Any other modifications or is it a stock car ? >> All our Stage 1 numbers are on 91 octane with no other mods. I guess we could make ourselves look better by doing all out baselines on 93 but then we frustrate our customers out here in CA who are limited to 91. 5. Im sure I saw a thread where torque limits on M235i were reached causing misfires - My Bad >> We haven't done a Stage 2 M235i yet so this still could be the case. We are well exceeding the torque limits on the N55 cars that we see on the N20/N26 auto cars. No limits seem to be there for the manual cars. We achieved 400wtq on our 228i manual. Overall the Dyno graph looks pretty good but the numbers 280HP for stock car I assume this is ATWHP ? >> Yes, at the wheels. |

GSR 228i at Bimmerfest
We'll be running our 228i at the Bimmerfest track event this coming Saturday at Auto Club Speedway so if you are there, come by and say high. We plan on beating up on some M cars.

With the group by option, I noticed that you are recommending 228i AT owners to use the Stage 1 kit. Can you explain the difference between Stage 1 and 2 outside of the obvious Downpipe.

I'm actually interested in this from the Computer Science/Engineering perspective. It would be interesting to get this running in say some sort of virtual machine environment to poke and prod at it and explore the software that makes this car tick.
Do you decompile the ECU code and make changes at the high level or is it just old school poking through the binary/machine code and making changes to the hex values? |
