I was thinking same thing...it's one thing to go from 80 to 90K...but fromm 60 to 120 is like buying a Civic vs buying a BMW

If there is any comparison it's to a M3 or M6.
If I was shopping a GTR it would be compared against something that could at least keep up. 8-) I like my 335i but there is absolutely, positively, no GTR comparison. The GTR is a Porsche killer, 335is, hmmm, not so much. If you are looking at 80-90 large, why not an M6? I love spending, other folks money. ;-) |

GT-R's fit and finish is pretty spot on so I wouldn't worry too much about that. The GT-R's ride is fine, but I like the firm damping feel like I did on my E46 M3.
But then again, the 335iS is a great color combo and likely to be less expensive overall in the long run. Both cars look great, the GT-R has more road presence though because it's wider and lower.

They are both A's ..... But the difference is having an AWESOME - SOLID - FORUM like the BMW forum like this... this is where you get the real support you need... no other car brand has a group like us...

Every person that tells you to get the 335is is a BMW fan boy to the maximum. I used to be like that (hence my username). GTR will have everyone around you drooling, including yourself. That thing is a complete beast, in both aesthetics and performance. You saw "The World's Greatest Drag Race" video, that alone should make your decision a piece of cake.

Like I said in an earlier post. Compare the GRT to something that can at least keep up.
GTR is a beast and an attention draw. If you don't want attention, do not get the GTR. If given the choice between the two; I'd be going GTR and the 335 could just smell the exhaust as a blew past him. |

A 335is, looking 99% percent similar to every other E92 335i, is a dime a dozen. Cookie cutter. The GT-R... not so. This thread confuses me. |

personally I don't care for the GTR's looks, i think its ugly as sh!t but there's no denying the performance. for 80 grand, i'd probably get a new M3 or C63 cuz I'd rather have a car that I can drive everyday and enjoy a more luxury oriented interior to go along with great performance. but if i just wanted a car to take to the track every week then GTR hands down. GTR as a daily driver, i'd probably get pulled over a lot

While it would be pretty easy to criticize the GTR as a long-term daily driver, if you can afford it, it's the obvious choice - hands down.
In fact, even from a monetary standpoint a clean, well kept GTR holds its value pretty well vs. the wonderful 50% depreciation on a 335 in 3 years! |

I just got my 335i but I have driven many other 335's before it including a couple 335is's but when I add up the total miles and time that I have spent driving a 335i, including mine which is just like an is, I still have spent more time and put more miles under my belt behind the wheel of GT-R's. My dad owns a car dealership so I get pretty unique opportunities including driving tons and tons of GT-R's ranging from stock to tune, intake and exhaust to full blown stripped out track cars. With my experience, I say GT-R all the way, hands down, no questions asked.
Edit: on the daily driver thing, I drove a GT-R with a half stripped interior on coil-overs 3 hours almost completely highway driving and the only complaint I had was the noise from not having insulation. I would rather drive a GT-R everyday than my 335i. |

If you can afford the GTR why not consider the new M3 ... I don't think the GTR is a gas saver... and long term value i'll go for the M3

Forget everyone else....buy what YOU want. You still have every right to be on this forum, even if you do purchase the low class Nissan.lol At that price point you have lots of options. Even more if you don't mind buying something with a few miles on it, but Its sounds like you already have your mind made up. I say go for it. I don't think you'll regret it.Congrats!...besides, you can always come back into the BMW fold

If you go for the GTR... you are not welcome here anymore and if you bring your GTR to a BMW meet you will feel outcast... we will just stare at you like we wanna crash your car... but on the other hand if you are going to buy your wife the 335is she is more than welcome here... but not you! So you better get the M3
