I did the upgrade on the weekend... replacing worn out Contis. Too early to comment as I have t been for a proper drive.
Did notice that at 100km/h I'm actually travelling 99km/h now. In 245/265 combo it was 98km/h. |

Rides a bit higher, less scraping, turn in is not changed much, the ride comfort is much better (car is still stiff but potholes are a lot more absorbed), and the rears hook much better now! There's a lot less traction control interference but I can still have fun.

I am a big fan of BMW OE M wheels. I hit so many of the craters they generously call potholes in the NJ/NY metro area with my Z4M and never damaged a wheel. I'm not sure that is a forged wheel either, though I never checked.
Strangely enough, I have known a number of people with standard series BMWs having multiple bent or cracked wheels in the same period of time. I wonder if BMW specifies them differently? Could be just luck, though. My neighbor is still on original E46 ZCP wheels too. |

I am leaning towards going the 255/275 route on oem wheels. Are there any downsides to going this route aside from a 1% rolling diameter variance?
I am more so curious as to why BMW didn't offer this standard as they are same wheel sizes and offsets as on the standard M3/4 and assume it would have been easier to carry over the same sizing. Just wondering the rationale they used for determining this and if it is something I should be concerned about. |

I think I'm definitely going to 255/275 when I need tires if for no other reason then I prefer a more squared-up sidewall.

Thanks for the info. I do remember that thread a while back but forgot about it when I was posting.
I am heavily leaning in that direction as well (255/275). I just wanted to ensure no real downsides to going wider, even if just by 10 mm. Sounds like no rubbing. I can use the pothole cushioning doing a lot of city driving. Doesn't appear to be significant of a change though to really alter appearance either by much. |

Since 275/30/19/F and 295/30/19/R would have zero impact on ABS or DSC operations, as it's the only non-OEM size combination where F:R ratio is identical to stock, the rep may not have said anything.

Anyone running 275/30/29 and 295/30/19 on stock wheels and suspension? Since there is little variance this might be the route I take instead of 255/35/19 and 275/35/19

Seems that Michelin Pilot Sport 4S is temporary unavailable in 265/35 R19 size: see this thread. No idea why.
245/35 R19 still available ...as well as 255/35 R19 and 275/35 R19.

M2C - 275/35/19 ok on the rear?
Hey guys,
Was wondering if it's ok to move up to a 275 rear from the standard 265? Reason being is I want to for the MP4s in lieu of the MPSS. Any disadvantages to moving up this small amount? Thanks in advance.

You should have no problem with 275 in the rear. It's fairly common for people to switch up to 275 rear and 255 front to get a bit more traction once the stock tires get worn out.
