[QUOTE=mcom;17295551]Yes, there are 239 Convertibles all waiting on "engineering hold" at port, BMWusa stated they are being held until mid Feb for the m235i convertible launch... My dealer had originally told me Dec 31... I am can't wait...

DAMN, mid February? Thanks for the info. It was so much fun tracking the car on the ship, checking each port for arrival and departure. It finally gets here to the US and BMW holds it, taunting me. Ha

Sounds like a "marketing hold" not an "engineering hold". Must be the same "engineers" who ditched the temp gauges in favor of the iDrive horsepower and torque displays.

The representative from BMWNA just called me to say that my car will be released on March 13th. She said it is an EPA hold. Hopefully I will take delivery the following week.

I wonder if this has something to do with the EPA recently finding that BMW had overstated the mileage ratings on some Mini's.

It will sit at the port about 9 weeks!
Same engine and drivetrain as the coupe.
Bureaucratic crap?, who knows.

I assume it's a separate EPA certification. I thought I read somewhere that the convertibles would be rated 1 mpg less than the coupes (maybe because they are heavier?)

Got my VIN yesterday for my 2er ragtop and was able to confirm through www.bmwvin.com (VIN decoder) that the production date was 1/26/2015 and that all the pkges and options I ordered were there.
Should have her by end March.

Mine too, but BMWNA in New Jersey, corporate headquarters, said the release date is March 13th. Could you please check with your source to confirm an earlier date? Thanks.

Told my dealer about some being delivered on the 16th - they said no way could they do the same because the car (sitting at the Port) is not released. My BMW says: "Finishing Touches" stage.

Talked to BMWUSA yesterday, they would not confirm or deny. The Mid Feb date was originally given by the Southern region distribtution mgr. at BMW. At the port the need the work order to do final inspection (takes 2-3 days) then at my dealer. Monday is when the dealer stated Feb 15 leaving port...

I got a sneak peek at my dealer place today ,only allowed 5mins sitting in the car lolz. It have not clear customs yet.

It was blue with coral red interior M235i Cab. You will need to order the M performance kit if you want it to look more special.

Which I just ordered today
