The Greatest Showman is quickly becoming a standard for demos in the consumer audio/video industry. Because is a musical (sorta), there are plenty of good scenes for sound, but the scene where the opera singer first gives her performance is a immediate classic moment for a surround system demo.

Personally, my favorite part about this scene is how unique of a Dolby ATMOS experience it provides. Because ATMOS delivers a vertical component to the surround experience; ATMOS demos always involve showing how sound is above you. This opera scene is different because it delivers DEPTH to the soundstage as well as height. The engineers accurately placed the orchestra below the stage in their pit. In a properly setup system the orchestra sounds like it's in a pit down low in front of the room. Awesome.

Cant believe there were only a few plugs for Ford vs Ferrari in here. Obviously must have been some artistic license included, but as an older car guy I found it incredibly entertaining, and brought back some memories of my Dad racing SCCA back in the 60s.
My favorite scene was the thrill ride Henry Ford II got from Shelby, followed by the humiliation the Ford execs got from Enzo...just classic!

Rented and watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood Christmas night. There are some who love Tarantino movies no matter what. Unfortunately I am not one of them. Didn’t hate it but didn’t love it either.

We rented it last week. I thought it was good, certainly not great. I appreciated a lot of the little touches representing the late 60s. And all the Controversy over the Bruce Lee scenes were blown way out of proportion.

In other news, The Last Jedi is now on Disney plus after falling off of Netflix. Solo is now the last live action Star Wars movie left on Netflix.

Seeing that led me off into some other good ones:

24 Hour War

Senna

I also plan to watch Drive to Survive when I get a chance.

Haven't watched Drive to Survive yet but I'll have a look. The other 2 you mentioned are both great. Check out Shelby American too.

Finally watched Joker. I thought it was very good and Joaquin Phoenix was outstanding. I don’t think anyone else could play it quite like he did.

Funny, that's what they said about Nicholson, Ledger and now Phoenix. Leto must be sooooo pissed.

In his own words, JP is an extreme introvert. It's the price he pays to let his muse out.

So had a interesting convo with the wifey this evening as we just finished watching Hustlers on 4k. She asked "hmmmmm why did we pick this up on 4k?" I said "because it was on sale?" She replied " Bull effing shit you wanted to see JLO's a$$ in 4k!" I'm not gonna lie...it looked FANTASTIC! well worth the argument

We watched The Report on Amazon Prime and The Two Popes on Netflix recently. Both were pretty good. Not “go to the movie theatre” good... but “free since I already paid for the subscription” good.

We don't go to the theatre very often anymore. When I lived in the city we could walk to two really good movie theatres and there were a bunch more within about 5-10 minter drives.....now it's about 30+ minutes in the car. We tend to stay in and enjoy our pretty decent home theatre, stuff that I want to see on the really big screen we will go to, the rest of it is usually available for home theatre consumption pretty fast.
