I’d echo other people here: find an OG m2 to sit in. OG guys complain about not having “real” M seats (I’m pretty sure they’re the 235i seats.)
I had to pay extra for a sunroof on my car (I’m short) but most people with M2s have slicktops. |

Since this thread has more or less turned into a discussion about the prevalence of sunroof delete cars, I figured I'd add the totally non-scientific results of searching Autotrader for slicktop cars of the M235 variety:
Of the 46 cars listed nationwide I could only find 2 that are clearly sunroof delete models, which I found by looking through pictures. And 1 of the 2 looks like it originated in Canada if that makes a difference in terms of options and packages. |

I've got a 16 228i slicktop with the THP manual sport seats, my buddy who is 6'3" fits in it fantastically, his hair just rubs the headliner. He was comfortable in it, i didn't have him try a helmet though.

I'm Canadian, my M240i rwd, manual came with no options except black grill and tail pipes. All manuals were special order here. I found mine used 6 months old with 7k kms right in my backyard. It was fate.
No sunroof is std, but included in the first package with comfort access and other stuff. There may be a few more slicktops here, but not many. |

Another sunroof-less M240i here in Canada. Our Golf R also doesn’t have one. On cars we have had them, they never really were used, although when we had a Z4M convertible it spent more than half the time with the roof down and was driven year round, so not choosing a sunroof isn’t related to the weather for us.

It was reported in this forum on March 17, 2014. https://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=959515 At that point, there were still 2-3 months more of 2014 production. As indicated in the thread, forum member "basiluf" immediately changed his order to "delete," so there's at least one moonroof-delete 2014. |

If there are only 5 M240i's with the sunroof delete, then I may have one of the rare 5? Are you sure they're that rare? Mine's a 6MT.

Wow - I ordered my 2017 M240i with no sunroof/moonroof and the 6spd. So I guess my car is pretty rare - cool! - Good luck with your search.

My m235i is a slick top. I am 6'3" with a long torso.
With a very upright driving position (hans + scroth quick fit) I fit with my helmet on. It will actually graze the headliner a bit, but it's not noticeable while driving.

Just wanted to confirm - MY 2016-2018 M2s all have the same seats as the regular 2er. Or at least, they're the same as the most sporty version of the seat in a regular 2er (a base comfort-grade 2er might have different seats, IDK).
I actually looked for a moonroof 2er just to check seat fit w/helmet when I was ordering my M2. I'm 6'3" and could've fit (barely) with moonroof, but didn't like the feel, and I very rarely used moonroof on previous cars anyway. So I passed.

A little while ago, I got a poll from BMW asking me about what I might want in a new 2-series. There were a few questions about the sunroof, including about frequency of use. The final question asked what I would prefer. I voted for a sliding panel that would let in light through glass, but no retractable roof. That is the way I usually keep my own car, unless it is very hot outside, in which case I close the slider. What I really prefer is the light that the slider provides. I don't want the wind blowing into the car. For that, I can open the windows, which I rarely do except on perfect fall and spring days.

Let's take a guess-timate. Not necessarily exhaustive, but somone up the thread found 3 deleters just browsing through autotrader and looking at pics. There are 185 m235/m240 coupes on autotrader. 3/185 equals 1.6%. My gut feeling says that sounds about right. Applying that to 24,000 cars, we might be talking about close to 400 deleters. |

The more people who contribute to this thread, the more I wonder if there are only 5! Nevertheless, there can't be too many of them.
