What is IAH? Houston Intercontinental? They are airfreighting cars to the U.S.? Is the X drive car a 235? If yes, I guess a pre-production one?

That red car must be preproduction; Note the European license plate bracket. Also the US as far as I know will not be getting the 220d. Perhaps they're test mules or cars for future auto shows

I suspect you have the answer Mike. When we were in Death Valley CA last year we saw BMW and Volvo test mules being tested in the high heat. And on more than one occasion I'm seen automotive test mules in Summit County CO. I assume they were being tested for high altitude performance. In any event, Jaybepr, great photos! Thanks for posting!

BTW, do the current production X drive coupes have an Xdrive tag on the trunk? The local dealer had one in stock, and I don't recall seeing that. Is that something new?

I don't think this info is something a non dealer (me) can access. I don't want to pester my CA every day! Thanks! |

Any Update? I'm "in the same boat"
My m235i vert is the launch car, and I believe is still held up in EPA testing. Does anyone have an update as to when it will be released?

I just called BMWNA to ask that very same question again. They say it might take 2-3 business days for an answer. It seems as though somebody at BMWNA must have a general idea as to when these convertibles might be released. I just haven't been able to find that "somebody".

Yes, there are 239 Convertibles all waiting on "engineering hold" at port, BMWusa stated they are being held until mid Feb for the m235i convertible launch... My dealer had originally told me Dec 31... I am can't wait...
