According to the poll on the M2 engine of choice that we had a few months back and which drew 500 votes, almost 85% of potential M2 buyers would disagree and prefer an I6

I want the M2 to come to fruition. 2 years from now is my target for a new car, while I'm leaning towards the M4 right now, I'd rather spend less coin and be in an M2. |

To me, I really don't care if it is an I6 or I4 or whatever with turbos/NA...
I am interested in the driving dynamics, first and foremost. This car should have a distinct feel to it, one that is different than an M235...it should be more raw and have less frills... If they do that, the car will be a huge hit. Like the 1M. And no one will care about the engine at that point...

The 1M wheels are basically the CSL style--many aftermarket versions around IIRC....

I agree--it is my favorite BMW wheel...it has been copied many times.

I really like the looks of this car. The convertible will be a knockout.

I'm very worried about the change of my view of the car. I didn't liked the leaked pics of the M235i at the harbor and I didn't liked the pictures of the 2 series from the official launch neither.
But after some time I love it (I stay with the fact it could have looked so much better) and I never had this before so intense. I have a E8X 1 series hatch which really doesn't look very good (it was a compromise), but I liked it when I bought it, but not so much as the RWD and other technic under the bonnet. Now I like the exterior and interior even less than before. But in my eyes the 2 series is a very beautiful car, not perfect but nothing is perfect, so what is this sorcery? So I'm not done with this good looking car, but only a gran coupé/sedan could take the money out of my wallet. |

Is there any news on when the new 3-cylinder engine will be available in the 2 series? BMW have confirmed availability of the new engine in the 1 and 3 series within 18 months (in Europe and Australia at a minimum) but I haven't seen anything about the 2 series.
