photo's will come LOL
picked her up today, car was like it rolled off the line, immaculate, including the engine bay, a couple of very tiny dings (as it rock chips where all done) the rims, God immaculate Dealer spent a lot of time with us, got a gift bag with 3 BMW items, umbrella and 2 thermos cups, 2 keys and an owners manual. Revealed in the VIP delivery area, under cover and with balloons. Drive home was next level, really fast, steering was so light, held the road as well, well xdrive right, all fully loaded, only slighly sorry to see 1'er go, a lot of money, but again over a 5 year period , was well spent, at least next 3 years nothing to worry about (basic) maintenance and repair wise. Quite a bit more room also compared to the 1'er I can't stop going to the window to have a look at it. Forgot it had CA, had was searching for the keys to open and lock it LOL |

I may have to cross post this, but I found a glitch in the car
So the 1'er is auto (even my wifes Gcaravan (2017) is) and they have all let me do this....so when I try and drive with the car and reverse or forward with the door open, it wont let me, jumps into park. I use in when trying to reverse or go forward on my drive, to get the right space. I understand it's a safety thing, but surly there are times, you may need to reverse with the door open, I've done it 100's of times before |

What's happening on the OP car is because it's an automatic. There are plenty of YT videos of people knocking/running themselves over or ripping doors off with cars in gear. BMW is trying to avoid that situation.

Bingo - My wife's 2015 X1 - will shift into park if you try to reverse with the door open.

hey guy's
so re-tested it today, and if I buckle up I can go forward or backwards to my hearts content with the door open, you get a warning on the idrive but thats cool. I kinda understand it's safety, but the amount of people of have had issues would have a problem with working out not to put a paperbacg over there head and why not. I think it's more because the new shifter is very weird and non-conventional, it's like a multi-function joystick, where as the older ones you physically have to shift it and put it in a notch. So I'm guessing people have in advertantly got out of the car thinking it was in park, but then thats bmw being retarded , I mean WHY re-invent a gear shift when it's not broken ? Anyway, it's way to common and useful to open the door when backing into certain spaces and lot's of people do it. also going forward, in some cases. Anyway problem solved |

wow so many options and features, if I thought I was spoilt on the 1'er, I had no idea, God only knows the 3,4,5,6,7,8 what advanced things they have..
I'm glad I stayed with the brand, have there problems, but consider a similar car, no contest, comes fully loaded and they mean FULLY loaded |

the mirrors don't auto fold, and there is no setting in my idrive to activate it,
should I put up with having to press a button and not let the BMW do it for automatically dammit ! LOL |
