you didn't lay anything out, you just gave instructions on how to take the panel off...which again, i agreed with you in your first comment, that ill do. in case you forgot, i said: "thats what its lookin like" in response to you: "...just pop the panel off.." im "not doing it"? what exactly am i supposed to be doing now? i dont know whats causing it...the point of the post. im not gonna just take the panel off for no reason, to explore the the vast beauty of the door shell. another user said its the motor track, so now i have a general area to work on/look towards. |

The grease is likely coming from the track and window motor system.
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...diagId=51_8735 No one is going to exactly know the source unless you completely disassemble the door which, at least to me, seems crazy given that wiping the glass takes a couple of seconds. Are you loosing your mind with the rust inhibiting grease that's oozing from the metal panels as well?

You said no one knows what causes it. Not true. You...don’t. not, nobody knows. And, I know it doesn’t affect you. I read your first comment.... Refuckinlax |

I appreciate you posting about this. I thought I was going crazy seeing smudges on my clean windows.
Thanks for bringing this issue up. I just keep a micro fiber towel in my side pocket and wipe the window as necessary.... |

Wow...this old issue. There's actually a thread for this, probably dating back to ~2014 or thereabouts. Had the dealer investigate twice (no charge), but never got to the root cause.
Just cleaned the glass every few days. Problem solved.

Sorry...buzz, squeak, rattle. Every off/on cycle of the trim panel stresses the attachments and increases the chances for these (for me) highly annoying sounds. Much easier to just wipe the glass than chase/resolve new door trim noises.

Thanks, and I agree. Also for OP; I took off both door cards recently. One was simple but the other was a nightmare due to a free-spinning plastic nut on the other side. Removing the sound insulation and replacing with new butyl isn't going to be much fun either. The sound insulation tears easily.
