I don't have any of your issues except the creaking steering wheel. It's been getting worse I am going to ask the service dept. about it soon.
My rear speaker deck does rattle when I go over bumps/certain road conditions though. Hard to replicate to get it fixed. |

The rattles in the OP case are unfortunate. I've learned that if you want a rattle fixed, it's best to buy a set of trim removal tools, search forums and YouTube, and do it yourself. I've noticed the interior panels are these cars are very tight fitting which is both good and bad. Tight means they shouldn't rattle around, but it also means that they can rub under certain conditions and cause squeaks, vibrating and creaking sounds, and buzzing. |

Are these cars all built in the same factory? When it comes to rattles and such, it normaly comes down to original assembly. And when you talk about dash rattle, its normaly because the dash was taken apart at one time. Once you take apart a dash in any brand it's probably going to makes noises.

You might have gotten a lemon. I used to have an Acura that rattled a lot and drove me nuts, and I am very sensitive to it, but I noticed nothing on my 2016 M235. I did a amount of custom installing (backup camera, dashboard cam) and noticed nothing. I did disable ASD through coding though.
FWIW, a drove a rental MB GLA250 4matic for a few days in LA. I felt the quality of the interior and the dynamics of the Benz much lower than the bimmer. It felt like night and day, although not same class of cars. I also did notice lots of potholes and uneven streets in LA, much worst than in suburban Seattle where I live. That might be a factor too. |

No noises at all. Just a horrible burnt crayon smell coming from the ventilation system when sunroof or windows are open. Going to have that checked out soon.

Only creak/rattle I've encountered is from the steering wheel everything else in the car has been perfectly fine.
Only other complaint is that they don't offer the nappa leather and that the Dakota is almost as shitty as the sensatec.

2015 w/ 30k kms, rattle/creak/squeaky free.
How much clutter/junk do you keep in the car? I just can't imagine all of the noise coming from fit & finish issues, as I've personally had absolutely none of that to report. I keep my car pretty clutter free and it makes a world of a difference. Also, have you addressed your concerns with BMW ? |

We don't have enough sample size here to draw conclusions, but I've wondered if the cars with more BSRs are parked outdoors more than those that don't develop this condition. I'm thinking about repeated expansion/contraction of plastic parts, especially in warmer daytime climates, as well as the contraction from freezing and warming up with heat. Cars parked in garages may have a more constant temperature exposure over time.

2 months of ownership on a new M240 and zero creaks or rattles. The car is super tight. I would like to see better materials used on the M240 vs the other 2 series (seems stupid to not use better materials in a car that cost $20K more). To date, despite only 2 months, I have no issues and absolutely love the car! My feedback to BMW would be GREAT car ... need to improve the interior quality and sportiness on the M240 as your design, engine, and performance greatly outpace your BMW interior quality.

So far no issues like the ones posted. I owned 2 Jeep Wranglers, lots of creaks, rattles, fitting issues etc etc. but it was a Jeep and could be expected. Keeping my fingers crossed. Getting a Dinan exhaust and intake installed today. If I have any creaks that should soften them up.

The only rattle I have encountered is the top latch point for the child safety seats. I used a piece of stick on felt to create some tension on the cover and it has been fine ever since.
My biggest grip is that there seems to be some grease or other smootz on the passenger side interior window seal so when the window drops a bit for entry the bottom always has streaks....I haven't torn the door apart yet to clean it out. I had a first year Mazda CX-5 that had soooo many rattles that it drove me to get rid of it after a year, replaced it with a Jeep Overland, thing is a tank and really really quiet on the inside. Two years and 12000 miles and no squeaks or or rattles -except for a pen in the center storage bin There's quite a bit of noise from the sunroof ,but that was my choice. Going down the road in Comfort- smooth as silk.
I also think the OP got a lemon. |

That's why I love these forums. Otherwise I would not have known that "The build quality on the interior of these cars is so ridiculously shitty".
I must have hit the jackpot 'cause both my former 228i ragtop and my M235i ragtop have been, and are, squeak and rattle free.
