People say this is the same as BMW stuff

This is what they use in diff on M cars, maybe same for this LSD

PS. Read some posts, alot of dealers skipping tranny break-in change even on M cars

I've had the same exact experience too. Ultimately you just say to service guy that it's my car and my money so just do it and I'll pay.

Negotiate the price first.

I had my rear diff fluid done at a dealer for ~$100. I dropped it 30k miles later to do it again. My usual SA was out that day, so someone else handled it. He called me a few hours later and asked if I resally wanted it done, as it was going to be over $400.

Apparently, as there is no drain plug, he wrote it for a full disassembly of the rear diff to drain it, at book rates. I told him it was a 30 minute job (that they had done before) to vac out the fluid and then refill it, at T&M shop rates. He looked up the prior work, agreed that made more sense () and re-wrote it that way.

You never want to just drop and wave without knowing what they're going to charge if they haven't done it before.

Of course. Ask for a quote up front. I always used to take my M Coup for an oil change and other fluid changes per Mike Miller's old school recs and the SAs used to give me this WTF look but I didn't care. My new car is still too new but they will be seeing me soon once again for my "off cycle" requests.
