May is when the next year's models (at least it was for last year if I remember right) start to be produced.

However... the day before, I filled up at a gas station that had just been refilled by tanker truck. I've always tried to avoid that because of the sludge that could be stirred up in the underground fuel tank and possibly clog fuel filter, fuel pump, etc. I've been told that it's not necessary, but I try anyway. So at least in my case, it could be a coincidence or it could be the cause. |

I am pretty sure they did not start building 2015s until late June last year. I remember reading folks that put in orders for the last 2014s in early June I believe.

Actually a bit later for 2015MY launch. Mine was built in the third week of 2015MY production and was the last week of the month of July.

2015 228i Drivetrain Malfunction
I too recently had a Drive Train Malfuncrion error. I have a 2015 228i w/ the manual transmission. I took the car out to pickup groceries and at a stop light there was a sudden loss of power. The car lurched forwar and stalled. It then wouldn't start for about 10-20 turn overs and then would only run 10 feet or so before stalling again. It also threw an error that the chassis stabilization was no longer working. I will post what I find out from the dealership. Only 4,500 miles on the car!

Just had to tow my 2014 228i (15k miles) into the dealership today for this very reason. Frustrating way to spend an afternoon on the side of the road.

The problem with mine was a "faulty crankshaft sensor." The intake has to be removed. It's a "labor intensive repair," according to the mechanic. I hope this is the last warranty repair I will need, but good thing it happened within warranty.
