My m235 is very bouncy and too stiff also. I have tried all levels of tire pressures and sport and comfort modes. When I put two passengers in the car it is not as bad. I believe this to be the problem :
The car is designed poorly. The suspension is too stiff for the chassis. Instead of the suspension taking all the shock from the road, the chassis flexes giving the sensation of the boat mention above. You can feel this is the seat when going over roads with slight unevenness or dips. The ride is so stiff and uncomfortable on non-smooth roads, that I get out of it feeling soar and stiff. On perfect roads, no issue…but who can count on that. This sensation is not present in my 335 (f30 chassis) which is a proven chassis. Additional notes: Although the car is very fast once it gets going, the ride is terrible and braking performance is completely mushy and disappointing. Brake fade is common and posted elsewhere. My 335 standard brakes well out perform the m235 with supposedly M Sport brakes. The 335 has much quicker response off the line and through the gears. The 335 has a steptronic. The M235 lags a bit on accelerator pedal input and has a noticeable delay between gears. The 335 never lets up on the accel – truly a noticeable difference. I think we are going to find the M235 is a very poorly design car where BMW engineering missed the mark. They tried to go cheap. The car does not even have a temp gage. I missed that when shopping. I have driven 328, 335, M3, and more. This 235 is a complete and utter disappointment. I predict market value to drop sharply in the next year or so when all the reviews start to hit the internet. If you are considering one, I would not buy it. There are too many downsides. Get a 335, add the power pack and get a tune if you want even more HP. |

What kind of a dumbass would spend $50K on a car and be a BMW so called expert based on the opinions given and not know a fricken thing about the M235 they "bought". Were supposed to believe this. Next time at least make it believable when you make up shit.

If you hate it so much, trade it in/sell it and move on. BMW values don't drop because a few people disagree with its performance and handling. By all professional reviews and accounts, the BMW 2 series is standard fare for BMW and will hold its value like any other. As for the M235i, it will hold it a bit better as all sport BMWs do and have historically. As for the obvious buyer remorse, only you can deal with that. Take it elsewhere and be a better shopper in the future - do your homework.

I miss my 135i. it had Koni FSD shocks and BMW performance power upgrade.
my M235 is a disappointment. I find it floaty. does not inspire confidence in sharp bends. My 135i felt planted and I craved more power as it was easy to drive at the limit. with my M235 I'm afraid .The m adaptive suspension does not make any noticeable difference. I was hoping to find solutions on the forum... |
