I had my order in last week and already received a production number, however I don't see any order info on BMW's site. Hopefully that will be updated soon.

I like the contrast steering wheel - beige on black.

I think they should have called the upcoming FWD 2 series Active Tourer the V2 (V for van). That way they could start an entire new line - V3, V4 (van/coupe combo), V5, V6 (bigger van/coupe combo), V7 (uber big and luxury van), each with different variations. Then - take that in your face, Mercedes!

People who care about the M brand will know what they want. Lots of premium products are named in similar ways. With Canon cameras, the 5D is much much better than the 550D. Same with Nikons. Benz S55 is better than S500. It's just marketing and I think you're getting a little too worked up about it. Don't worry about posers, just enjoy your car man.

If you are correct in your statement that an M car means something to car lovers, then they shouldn't get confused and think a M435i>M4. They will know what a M4 is and who cares about this anyways. A true car lover buys a car based on the car and not what everyone else thinks the car is. It almost sounds to me like you are more worried that if you buy a M4 someone won't know you bought the most expensive 4 series. That has nothing to do with being an enthusiast.
well said. many seem to only care what others perceive their car as. I think 235is represents this car better, it's not a big deal though

Well this mineral grey and tan interior looks really good, but I think sliver with red interior would be the way to do it .... Still anxious to see what deals they will be offering for this car I feel like it going to be overly expensive might just wait till the end of this year to see what they offer

Come on BMW you are better than this and would bet a good penny that the majority in this forum feel the same way!

I mean the badging looks exactly like that of an true M car which this is clearly not! Its bad enough that that the logo is used all over the sides and interior already for just about any other model. I mean what is next? I just cringe at the thought of seeing an M435i version for next MY after just picking up my M4 later this year. Just think about this for a second from the eyes of a newbie to BMW. You see an ad for an M4 and a M435i..logic and numbering intuition will steer you to think that M435i > M4. Crazy talk you say? We already have an M235i poseur in existence so why not. It's truly diluting the brand to do this and does not do any favors to a premier brand revered in the car world. People not as connected to the brand as we are in this forum will be confused at events and dealer lots why this car just does not deliver like a full on M car and why should they think otherwise! I hate to say it but I can just envision dealers just staying quiet and letting the customers think they are buying a real M car on the cheap for strong sales that this car will no doubt deliver. This is where I appreciate the nomenclature of Audi between their A, S, RS distinctions. Ok You want to make a car to give you a bit of bling and performance boost without breaking the bank for RS, Cool, but I will call it an S instead of an RS to maintain differentiation. If you want that then the buyer must step up and pay for the badge.

BMW please do not sell out and hope this trend reverses in near future! An M car means something to car lovers of all ages globally and why many of us stay glued for updates whenever something new is in the horizon. Ok rant over
I totally agree with you on everything. However, this forum only count maybe 3% of BMW's annual NEW car sales; I am just guessing on that number. So BMW could care less about what we say. That M badge just looks wrong!

the cars on the photos seem to be a mix of various different combinations of options. Probably to run down minimum/maximum specifications, usability, etc. 17-inch winter tyres with M Sports-package but with standard suspension doesn't add up to me..

For everyone that has one on order, good choice. Get out there and rack the miles up, I really hope that you enjoy each and every one of them. For me the M235i is not special enough to replace the 1M but then the M4 doesn't look like it will be either. I think I will wait to see the M3 & M4 in the flesh and decide wether to purchase the M3 or wait for the M2. I remember when I ordered the 1M and everybody thought I was crazy spending nearly £50'000 on a fully loaded 1 series with a service pack. 2.5 years later It still makes me smile and I just can't find anything to replace it with.

On another point M sport, M performance, full blown M, the badging doesn't really matter, driving the 1M has taught me that. To the average driver it's a boy racer 1 series with a body kit, to the educated it's a oh my god is that a 1M I never saw one before do you mind if I can take pictures/ sit in it etc.

Like I said at the start if you ordered one enjoy it, you made a great choice.

The blue one from behind is reminiscent of a 10 year old Civic coupe.

You all make good points and agree with your thoughts. However it's clear my opinion did not come across correctly. First I don't care about anyone's opinion but my own in the end when spending 75k on a car. I certainly value feedback especially from this forum to help me decide. It's all about the driving experience and emotional connection to the experienced. I am absolutely an enthusiast. My point is that the M badge comes with expectations. If you are educated then you will know exactly what you should get and how the car will perform. However to the less educated or new to BMW who buys a car like the M235 They will form an opinion that the cars performance is what you get for an M badge and not the case. This is brand dilution and can go horribly wrong when they do finally get to drive a real m car and feel cheated when the real M2 comes out. It's only a matter time before somebody comes in this forum or at a meet raving about their M235 and how it's the ultimate M car to get a quick reality check. One of you said that only about 3% of buyers ever come to this forum so the odds are there that this will happen. Maybe a bit overkill on opinion but that how it goes

Yep! I love it even more... Definitely waiting a few years to see if the M2 comes to life though. THAT will be the M badge that I want...

I wish there was a gray/silver somewhere between Mineral and Glacier. Had a E46 M3 with a Medium Metallic gray that kind of split the difference, Mineral is too dark almost black seeing it on other BMW's. Dark cars show the scratches after a few years and get dirty fast but it is a nice color (Mineral). I'll probably go the Glacier Silver route, never shows dirt or scratches and is a classic look.

Same dilemma I'm having. I had a Steel Gray Metallic 330ci and loved that color. Never showed swirls, always cleaned up real nice. My 335 is SBM and I would never get that color again. It shows swirls so easy, only looks nice right after a detail. Pretty sure I'm going with Mineral in my 235 though, Glacier is just a little too light for me.
