Coding using E-Sys, PSDZDATA, and and a cable consists of reading the FDL coding data out of your various ECUs, then going offline to make changes, and reconnecting to write the coding data back to each module. That third step has to go perfectly with no interruptions. You'll also have the opportunity to do other coding and even do some coding for other BMW owners. A somewhat less tedious way to code would be to use Carly for BMW - the latest version can now code the function you're wanting to do using a cell phone or tablet (IOS or Android). It uses a Bluetooth OBDII adapter, and after you read the ECU data, you can check or uncheck the options you want to change, and it will then write those changes back to the car. It also backs up the original ECU data content, so you have a fallback. I have both capabilities, and while the E-Sys method is more comprehensive (covers more ECUs than does Carly at present), Carly would be a lot simpler for you. All-in, with the "pro" license and Bluetooth adapter, it'll be right around $100 (they're based in Germany and the pricing is in Euros).

So, I have my car coded so that the doors are supposed to unlock when the engine turns off. Right now, the driver side works flawlessly, but the passenger side still requires a double pull (isn't being unlocked). I coded with CLM_UNLOCK_KL15OFF_AFTER_PIA_AUTO_LOCK. Is there supposed to be a different one for the passenger door?

No, you just need to be sure your iDrive setting for lock/unlock does both doors and not just the driver door. I have driver door only set for my wife's key, and all doors set for mine. It works as it should, unlocking only her door when she turns the car off, and both doors when using my key.

I didn't even think of that! Thanks. I'll have a look at the iDrive menu today and give it a shot.
Edit: well, that fixed it. Now I feel like an idiot Last edited by Sypher; 08-02-2016 at 09:16 AM.. |

Here's what you can do:
1 - Buy a low cost laptop from Best Buy (I3 chip for $300). 2 - Download the required software to the desktop. 3 - Allow the remote coder to connect to you computer with remote software. 4 - Fast WIFI and a new laptop and your coding is done in 15 minutes. 5 - Delete all added software from laptop and return it to Best Buy the same day for full refund. Your cost? $ 15 for the diagnostic port cable and $ 100 for the remote coding. Worked for me! |

driver inside handle detent
2015 M235i, I just got into this vehicle. I was wonder it it common/normal to have an extra position on the inside door handle on the driver side. It can stick out a little if i leave it, or flush if i push it in. Seems like a extra little click that is built into the handle but not sure. The passenger side when you pull it to get out of the car, goes back flush right away.
