i would prefer a flash, but i have feeling if they go that route, that is the end of the Dinan/BMW alliance (maintaining warrantee), ..... but oh well

Dinan_Engineering please forgive my ignorance of the subject but is there any way you can explain to us how the car is making more horsepower off the Dinan intake without a tune to compensate for it?
From my experience on other platforms (non turbo charged) intakes dont really make gains without a tune. Usually they just throw off the air/fuel ratio and cause an engine to run lean which might make a bit of horsepower but isnt very optimal. The real gains have come from a properly mapped tune that can account for the extra air. |

So basically - on an otherwise stock car - the DME has enough latitude to gain the 10hp stated. I assume some parity with would apply on a car like mine with your Stage 1 - in that it should gain something.

Dinan_Engineering sorry for repetitive questioning but I have tried to contact my local dealer and have not heard back from them.
Does this intake need to be dealer installed to maintain warranty? Or can I purchase and install myself? I currently have a stage 1 tune, should I wait for a stage 2 tune to come out before getting the intake? |

No reason to wait for additional stages. You can always upgrade the tune at a later date for the difference in MSRP between stages. |

She's in!
I had time after work to get it installed. The instructions were a bit off, the clips for lid should be bent back away from the box and then back in towards the box to remove them. Then the bottom silicone host should be installed first, then put in the tube and intake box. You can't get to the screw to tighten the hose clamp on the turbo intake. Does it feel faster? Maybe a bit. Am I ready for the stage two tune, you betcha!

I got the intake installed on my 2019 m240i xdrive last week. looks cool in the engine bay and throttle response feels a bit better. I have to say I'm a bit bummed that I can't hear it much like the afe intake I had on my m235i. for me the sounds an intake makes are just about as important as the extra performance it may provide. i'm also greatly anticipating stage 2 so I sure hope dinan comes out with it soon!

Definitely a pick up in low end throttle response, and I am pretty sure I feel an increase at 100MpH+. Also, not that it is accurate, but my HP gauge hits about 15HP higher (not even sure what that means). I am getting Dyno'd (4wheel mustang Dyno) next Thursday, BuT I have no previous Dyno run, so not really gonna help. Dinan said this is a performance-based CAI, not a sound enhancing one, and I am totally good with that as I really like where my ride is sound wise

I'm definitely going to have to Dyno mine as well, but unfortunately, I won't have anything to compare it to, since it will be her first run. |

My car is scheduled for its annual oil change and service. I will order one of these intakes when I visit. I will also ask them to order a new (revised) replacement harness for my turner @ the same time. I have not had a CEL since I threw that one code, but I think it may be a matter of time until I throw another code. I just don't drive the car enough to get that expected CEL. We shall see how the Svc Mgr approaches my request.

Update on my Dinan intake.
Install completed on Friday. It was pretty simple. I need to thank @rickd for giving a few tips on install Dinan missed, these helped a lot. Quote:
Well IMO I feel like the car has actually lost a tad from 1-3k RPM's but has more top end 5+k. Could it all be in my mind??? Maybe but impossible to say now because I'm not uninstalling it to find out. I'm looking forward to a Stage 2 tune that maybe can optimize the potential of this intake. |

I've noticed no real gains or losses in performance (although I never wind my car out to max RPM's which I am to understand is where the gain is felt). I do notice a rather nice sound emanating from my engine when I do accelerate. Kinda reminds me of turbine whine. Niiiice!
I want the Stage 2...................... |

Call me silly, after I installed the intake, the power delivery seemed smoother...placebo maybe. I will say the exhaust lost some hum @ about 3k rpms, I thought it was just me but my daughter who notices everything about the car brought it up, without knowing I had installed it.

Does the chart in the first post help at all to explain your experience of the intake?
