OP - so you finance the car and hardly ever drive it, but if you leased it you'd "drive the hell out of it" ?
I think you have it switched up, if I financed a car I'd drive it whenever I could, but if I leased it I'd restrict myself on where I drive it sometimes.

i have the same feeling as the OP... but as time goes by, i just tell myself, hey, it's just a car... car has one purpose: to be driven.
I think everybody in the forum love their car as well, we get in bad mood if somebody mess up with our car. But again, it can happen to any car out there.

Ya, I used to sweat it, but it's a car man, and only a 3 at that. Thing is, in any major city it's going to get damaged, period. My aero lip is mashed, I've got some curb rash, my bumpers look like hell. It's all repairable and in the end, it's my DD, so whatever. Drive it and enjoy it.

I'm not going to do any cosmetic mods on mine.
I've been modding cars since I was in high school. Now I just want to drive a car and not worry about it being too low, scratching the rims, etc. I sitll have my other cars. I'll mod those before I mod a (soon to be) 335i. Well, there is one mod I'll do - one of the ecu upgrades - procede or JB2. |

Its normal to want to keep a 40K toy in good shape. If it was a 8k kia I'd still want it to look dent free and clean since its my toy. It really sucks to take your car out and have someone ding or dent it in a parking lot.
The problem is that if someone dings up my car I would want to fix it. I hate looking at dings and dents in my car. Unfortunately even paintless dent removal requires driling a hole in the door. Not to mention this stuff adds up fast in cost. If you lower your car you will suffer the usual problems associated with it. If you upgrade the power without addressing the rest of the car you will lose longivity and reliability. Its part of doing aftermarket modifications. If you want OEM reliability keep it stock. Otherwise get out the wallet and be ready. |

If you can afford to mod it then you should be able to afford whatever needs to be repaired when "shit happens" otherwise you shouldn't have gotten the car in the first place.
Life is short, floor the fucker and park it in the street. Be watchful where you leave your car of course, but not to the point you're freaking out. |

some people are making it seem like I'm worried about the costs...it has nothing to do with the $$ the car was paid for in cash not financed or any car payments...its just the fact of worrying about the car

well, looking at your worries of damaging/scraping the car and cracking your wheels, money concerns could be inferred. Bro i bent 3 forged BBS wheels on my S and since the shop couldnt replicate BBS's finish i had to spend plenty of $$ to get replacement. With this car im making compromises, No Procede, no 1k wheels and its all good.

ive almost had my car for 2 years now, past the stage of worrying... especially now i have some major body damage from an accident waiting for repairs (DPE's are flawless though, make sure i never curb em) as far as worrying about vandalism and becoming dirty, nah that just never crosses my mind anymore.

You pay to play. That is the rule. You wanna slam the car? Sure, but you risk of scraping on driveways and replacing tires since the car is that low.

I have had paintless dent removal done on my 240sx a few times. They need to get the tools to reach the dent. It can't always go from the window so sometimes they drill a hole in your door jam to get the tools in there. Usually for dents that are lower on the door itself. The side impact bar tend to block the tools trying to reach from the window slit.
To the OP, just drive it and fix it. No big deal if you have the ability to get the stuff fixed up. All cars will eventually blemish and need some work. If you worry about coverage in case of theft/vandalism get better insurance coverage too. |

You people are really messed up. Its a fucking 3 series budget BMW, get over it. I honestly stopped caring that much (believe me, I was probably the most anal dude you could meet), once you get the first 'ding' or two all of your hard work trying to take care of it is basically negated in one second.
I enjoy driving the car, that's what it's all about anyway. |

Wow. Now that's some mileage!
I was ridiculously OCD about my car until a rock hit the hood on the highway. Not a pebble, but a big ass rock. It made a huge chip and a DENT. Since then, I'm still OCD, but just mildly OCD.

I understand how we can put a car like the 330 or 335 up on a pedestal and fear its overuse. I'm definitely over the top in how I keep mine clean. Hell I remodeled my garage just to give it a good home.
But... I bought it to drive it. I get extreme satisfaction from the driving experience. You will too! Weather you drive it or let it sit the value will go down. I prefer to be in mine and driving as it depreciates. I'll get a new one in a couple years anyway. I turned into a curb the other day and it hit the side of the car leaving some significant yellow scratches on the lower side panel. My wife was more upset than me. I told her it was just a car. She about sh&t. So, it may take a boo boo or two for you to "get over it" and experience the car!! The cosmetics of the car are awesome but I've fell in love with how the car drives!! I'm going to Atlanta Sunday and can't wait for the the 7 hour drive! Scott

Hey RRG007, it's amazzzin from e46fan...... Anyways I rem your old whip we both get into our sht at teh same time.. but yea it's just a 3er, I use to care about mileage (on my old zhp) but then after time I was like ahhhhhhhh fck it.. at the end of the day it's a beamer and I don't really see them lose value.
As for that whole mod issue, I remember when I was modding and dealer with sponsors 24/7 becuase shit was broke/wrong it's just a hassle. Never will I buy rims online again, since sponsors seem to fck up an order and expect to pay 200$ back...... everything local unless it's easier DIY or getting some vorsteiner shit..... I hate waiting and shipping... it's jus so lame... Anyways, hope your enjoying everything... stay safe |
