my apologies, I misread your post....I thought you were referring to the newly released Dinan LPFP. You're correct, Fuel-It is THE go to in LPFP's for the N55 .

No datasheet or product info only that the part nr I quoted above is whats used in M2 so should be capable of working at higher boost/torque. If BMW M2 HPFP are failing then no doubt BMW will have an OEM fix as a QEP or similar recall that should also be retrofittable on Mx35i's and F3x N55's....

I tried to get them from a Bosch distributor, but he told me the specs are held confidential between BMW and Bosch.

Suppose the idea of mounting M3/4 twin vacuum pump c/w 2 x HPFP's, HPF rail and ancilliary plumbing to connect lines from HPFP's to HPF rail has been ruled out ????

Yes, because you also have to put together the electronics to regulate the 2nd pump.

Looking at how the m3/4 vacuum pump is configured it's similar to n55 unit but with 2 HPFP "ports" as opposed to one.
Plug in connection into vacuum body is the same part between S55 and n55 so not sure what electronics are needed to control a 2nd pump when they are driven off same drive shaft within vacuum pump body. Both HPFP then tie into the same fuel rail so HPF sensor and regulator sees and controls rail pressure in the same way surely ?

a picture is worth a thousand words:
http://www.atasoyotomotiv.net/image/...OR-800x680.jpg the shot above illustrates that the pump has an electrical connection for regulation on the S55, the pumps are regulated separately, and one is secondary, engaged sequentially by the DME more pics: https://www.google.com/imghp?hl=en&q=bosch+hdp+5

RW,
Good info, Thanks. Sounds like it could be a right royal PITA to do any upgrade using OEM parts. BP

it's the same reason we'll never see tuners build something to let us run the S55 fuel pumps on the N55: they're flogging PI systems

The HPFP on my previous car was also cam driven (aka CDFP; I don't know if there are any non-cam driven fuel pumps). If you were mechanically inclined, you could easily swap out the OEM internals of the pump for upgraded internals (<$500, iirc) allowing higher sustained flow/pressures.
It's too bad such an option doesn't seem readily available for us. |
