Is it just me but this looks boring. I mean there is nothing special or unique about it. I honestly don't like it at all! Is there a BMW that has some cojones and design to match? I get more excited when I see older models. WTF?

I plan on getting one and doing European delivery again. I also plan on adding the m135 larger rear sway bar and front transverse rods to firm it up even more. |

Yes we get it 135 owners you love your car, good for you.
My opinion the only thing good on the 1 series is the little spoiler. I'll take the other 95% of the parts of the 2 series any day. When was this thread about the 1 series? |

It's a thread about the 2, both positive and negative, and it stands to reason that one might compare it to its predecessor, positively or negatively. Or should it just be all positive? Anyway, great brochure. Love the car all the way around except that rear, and now that we know BMW might pony up and do something nuts (M2 like the 1M), I will sit this out, enjoy my car, and see how it all unfolds. I also like how they're advertising this car in an _actual_ red.

I agree. There is no reason to jump on this if you already own a modded 135i. It is going to have more power and handle better, plus the rear end on the 2 is terribuuuul. I would wait it out for the M2, hopefully.

the new car appeals to a lot of people because it IS generic looking and more mainstream....which is probably why it appeals to 3-series owners as well |

Let's not forget that 3% inflation since 2008 simply means that $48.8k would now be $58.3k.

http://www.bls.gov/data/inflation_calculator.htm Base price of a 2013 M3 coupe was about $60k if I remember correctly.... so about $7k more than the 2008 price + inflation. Perhaps there is room for an M2 at the $50k price point if the M3/4 will be above 60.

I see your point that inflation increases the price- definitely true. But BMW has also been increasing the price steadily. I would not be surprised to see the M235i going for 50k base price in a few years.

Regardless, the point is that folks comparing six year old pricing to current day pricing are forgetting inflation. If I bought a new 2002 for $3k, I wouldn't expect to find a 335i today for the same price. |

So 3 weeks now since the release of data and still nothing mentioned as far as pricing for the Canadian market and whether a 228i with Msport pack would be avail here (as Msport pack not avail on 3 series unless you go 335i or 435i unlike in USA). We are right beside USA and will get the same models essentially, where is this info!

But as is typical with people like you, making the absurd comparison of a car that was released 51 years ago somehow makes your statement valid. And by your math, a 335 today should cost ~$160,000 compared to a 2002. Disagree all you want, but don't bring terrible math, and ridiculous comparisons to make your point. |

Actually, my interest in the 2er is the same as why I bought a 1er in 2008 over a 3er. The 3er is too big for what I personally prefer. The 1er sold quite well, even in it's last year selling at 6k+ units, it's still outselling the Z4 and X6 and roughly on par with the 6er and 7er. If price alone were the only factor behind making the 2er appealing, the 320i and the X1 sDrive 28i (rolls right off the tongue) should be even more appealing. |
