Foam Gun? Foam Cannon? If it's a DD you probably still need to get out the sponge or cloth and wipe it down to get all the road grime and filmy stuff off. Guess I'm just an analog, "old school" guy who relies on the bucked of sudsy water (car wash detergent) and a hose with a sprayer. Seems to work for me.

I then had an excuse to buy the 3,100 psi, 2.5 gpm gas power-washer I wanted!

in my opinion foam cannons are not a necessity, I only use mine when I havent washed the car in weeks. Might also be useful if your car is black, other than that if you wash the car weekly or so then 2 bucket method is all you need.

Weekly? I'm lucky if I get a wash in every 2 months I'm in Portland and it rains for half the year. I also travel a lot for work so my car is usually parked at the long term airport parking unfortunately. Maybe that foam canon is for me lol

Thanks for the links! That's a bit more than I want to spend considering I wash maybe 6-8 times per year, if that LOL What are your thoughts on those generic $40-50 canons that hook to a regular hose?

Hell the E70 is foam gun, brush, hose off, dry with leaf blower. 5 mins and done, another 5 mins for wheels and tires.

Thanks! The pressure washer is a Ryobi 3100 psi, 2.5 gpm. It’s got a Honda GCV 190 4-stroke motor in it. Starts every time! The foam cannon is the Detailers Domain's Uber Super Duper Foam Cannon built by MTM Hydro. Also using Chemical Guys Hybrid V7 Optical Select High Suds Car Wash Soap both in the foam cannon and for hand washes.

OK, yesterday I discovered that my Zaino car wash soap stuff had turned to green slime.
What wash products do you other maniacs recommend? |

I bought one of the cheapo foam cannons from Amazon and it works pretty well. Foams as much as the "name brands" as I can tell from comparing it to videos etc.

I bought this Gilmour brand foam gun off Amazon and could not be happier with it. No need for a power washer with this thing. Just fill it up a little bit with your favorite car shampoo (I use Sonax shampoo) and connect your standard garden hose. Nice and efficient/quick coverage with no waste. I probably use 1/3rd the available volume of the foam gun's tank, so it's not like you have to constantly refill it and use a ton of product. IMHO, for the price, there's no reason not to own one and give your car a quick foam bath and rinse before the actual hand wash to get the larger grit off the car first. As for construction quality of this particular foam gun, it is excellent and I expect it to last a long time provided I don't bash it against the concrete repeatedly or run it over.
Good luck!

That being said, if you have no other use for a pressure washer and don't want the expense then a foam gun certainly becomes a viable alternative. |

Besides, isn't washing our pride and joys supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience? Pressure washer somewhat ruins the experience, no? I have one too. Just don't see the need to use it on our cars. Good to have options, I suppose!
