As for the M235i, I expect the same power levels as today's F20 M135i, which is around 320hp from an N55 engine. This can be upped with tuning to around 370hp on pump gas. |

I really hope it isnt a 320hp i4 engine which I highly think it will be. I would love to get an m2 but will it be better than a 1M? I understand they can achieve similar power levels at the stock level and possibly shave a few hundred pounds off the 1m's curb weight, but will it be better? will it be more tunable? Will tuned m235i's smoke the m2? an m235i with m2 suspension may be the true winner.
I plan on buying an individual m4 when they come out, but I'm not going to lie, I am constantly being attracted backwards to an late year e92 m3. |

I don't really like that render. Perhaps because it reminds me of the new 3er.
It gives the impression of a smashed duck's mouth. I hope this isn't accurate.

quick question for those 1 series owners that installed wavetrac or Quaife LSD, how did the car handle on normal roads and how did it handle on mountain roads? i'm not planning to track M235i if i end up buying it but i drive on canyon roads a lot, i want to know if an aftermarket LSD is gonna make any difference

why every brand is making these small cars look like idiots? If render is close to what's in the works, I do not see many serious buyers considering BMW 2
p.s. Not that I follow this much but I feel VW is of few whose small cars look desirable. |

Looks like a beautiful car. The reason we will not see a straight 135i is what I call the Obama tax. The new fuel economy rules are extreme and penalize powerful cars with small footprings. You can read that as sports cars, even though the M235i has a back seat of sorts. For manufacturers the alternatives are to either not make these vehicles or to make them very high end in smaller quantities with more profit for unit.
This looks like hot stuff and is on my next car candidates list although that is still a bit off in the future given that my 135i is only a year old.

Interesting. After driving an F30 for a few days last week, I had the exact opposite feeling. I thought the interior was pretty bad.

Whether it was deliberate or not (?) to make you upgrade, the standard screen on F30 looks like a child's toy after using the pro nav screen, too much plastic around the facia. Just my 2c/p Back to topic the M235i is looking good! |

Those that think the m2 or m3/4 will be lighter than their counterparts are delusional. The m cars are heavier and more powerful. The extra weight comes in the form of beefier suspension components, lsd, larger body work, bigger wheels, etc

An M2 with a four cylinder, even with larger brakes and an LSD should be relatively easy to make lighter than an M235i with a six. But thanks for the . |

As a driver and owner of both, I would trade in my E90 anyday for the F30...

Currently have an E82, E90, E92 and F30. The E9x generation didn't have thaaat much more feel than the F30, the main difference is the steering was more heavily weighted (less assistance from the power steering pump) and this gave the illusion of more feel than what it actually has. I think the F30's steering is too light in the Normal mode and it feels a little artificial, even in Sport, but overall the chassis balance and handling is much better than any of the E9x cars I've owned. The F30 feels more agile and eager to turn in so even though the steering feel is worse, the overall package is better and the ride comfort is miles ahead.

Back on topic, I can't wait to see an M2 in person. It could well be the "real" new M3! |
