Aside from the in-dash controls, are there any benefits to the OBD2 firmware over the last positap firmware? I recently installed the Bluetooth adapter so I don't care as much about in-dash controls, but felt changing to OBD2 might provide other benefits, or at a minimum allow for continuing support from BMS. Thoughts? Edit: Muting active sound alone might be worth it. |

Mind snapping a few photos when you do the install and posting them?

Ya, I've got positap and my JB connect won't display the oil and water temp gauges.

Guys,
I'd suggest steering clear of OBD2 v6 of JB4 FW and use V5. Lots of OBD2 FW users moving from v5 to v6 FW reporting that v6 ign timing is learning down more than up.... BP

Terry is working on a fix and has a test fw, I would imagine they'll release an update soon.

So I spent some time today installing the flex fuel and ewg harnesses, plastic weatherproof case, and obd2 cable. I decided to go through the firewall at the hood release cable grommet. This was truly fairly simple and I highly recommend it. I used a hook tool to pull the grommet off and expose the hole, which created plenty of space. Then you simply push the obd2 cable through the hole and you're done. I wasn't able to get the grommet back on, but I didn't exactly try very hard.
Note: I think I'm going to try making a second hole in the grommet to past the cable through there so as to maintain function of the grommet. |

I fed it out through the door jam and into the engine bay from inside where the door closes. Ill post some pictures later but it was ideal because since my car is manual as well it was near impossible for me to get the OB2 cable through the grommet.

My intention was to go under the deal by drilling a hole for the cable on the backside I just haven't had time yet.

Has anyone had any issues from the dealers after the JB4 install?

If you have an auto you'll want to use the other grommet referenced in this thread as it is simply blocking an otherwise unused hole through the firewall. The tough part for me was making room in that hole with the clutch line going through it. |
