I drove the ///M135i just a week ago, compared to my 1M it is way softer, much more body roll and a lot more quiet.
Now that is not a negative conclusion or statement, it`s just the difference between ///M performance line and full blood ///M line. I do expect the same with the ///M235i, so what I need is a M2 |

LOL. it's funny when people analyze things and make conclusuons before they even see it , isnt it... I still laugh at my friends who called the Circuit of the Americas layout " boring" when they saw the first track maps.. |

Folks, what did you expect? They needed to leave room to make the M2 something special without it encroaching too much on M3/4 territory.
BTW, if you're destined for the track and that concerned about body roll, get a true M car and not a M performance model. |

A lot of us track non M cars. My car has the stiffer performance suspension shocks (which I think are just Bilstien sports painted black) and no other changes that would have an effect body roll and yet it is still a very well sorted and enjoyable (street) car on the track with street rubber.

Huh?? CSL has zero body roll in comparison to M235i. Did you even look at the video you posted? It is apples to oranges. M235i is all over the place, CSL is planted. |

I take my car to the track, and that one sounded and looked to behave similarly. That is to say, I have no more outer edges of my wimpy front runflat tires. Had my car come with PSS, might be a different story (doubtful), but all stock 1s and 2s are going to have some significant roll.
I like the side view of it, but cannot get over the massive rectangle they're calling a diffuser.

Finally was able to watch the vid, the car looked awesome.
"all that body roll" as many are pointing out, I believe is due to the track- all the corners are either flat, or (look like they are) off camber! If that car was zinging around a course with some banked turns, it would appear to have much less body roll.

http://imgur.com/a/3ZYbw#0 Even the wonderful CSL has some body roll and it's ok. It's still "The Best Handling Car." No mass production street car under $100k is going to be flat like an Ariel Atom through the corners. Everyone saying there's too much body roll either 1. hasn't been on a track, or 2. didn't see the M235i video. The M3 CSL probably doesn't suffer quite as much from roll since Jeremy likes to kick the rear end out causing significant weight transfer and flattening of the car's stance. Still, the M235i didn't look to be rolling that much compared to the M3 CSL and everybody complaining already based on the single video posted of it on a flat non-cambered track are full of crap. Consider the following about Thruxton: The frame with the most body roll is at 1:31 after the turn named "Church." Church is one of the most famed of the British tracks due to the fact that it's an off camber corner. The second most is the Noble to Goodwood turn which first loads the car on the right and then left with a significant weight transfer with almost no time to spare. That would trigger some roll in any car. My point is: Stop complaining. The M235i was never going to be a race car. It's a cool, fast, and sporty coupe with some elements of the BMW M heritage. If you think it rolls too much, don't buy it and wait for the true M of the generation. BMW has already announced that the M235i is faster around the "Ring" than the 1M Coupe. And that's good enough for me to believe it's fast around a track. |
