Every once in a while, I do a virtual build of a new 240, but honestly, I am perfectly content with my 2015 235x and I don't see much of a difference in the new model, based on reviews. Admittedly, the mileage is just shy of 60,000 and I can imagine wanting to get a newer car at double that number.
I kept my 325 until it had 160,000 miles on it and the mechanic begged me to get rid of it, because it was costing as much to maintain as it would to pay for a new one. I might wait until that point, though my grandson might be driving the car by then. |

Just bought a 2017 230i XDrive with 70k miles...
I'm waiting for service records from "near local" BMW Dealership. Without knowing anything about the car's history - what are some things that I should have checked out between 70k and 100k? My previous car was a 2001 Audi TT Quatro Turbo... I bought it 12 years ago with 80k miles... and it now has 134k. |

So - I need to do the trans fluid if it isn't showing up on the service records (which I'm assuming it will not - why sell it if you just changed it). |

Yes, find an indy to do your transmission fluid/filter. Should be 500-600$. Dealership won't do it. Plugs if not done already |

62.5k miles on my 2018 m240i. Got this slightly over 2 years ago at 22k miles. Will likely join the club in 2025.
Water pump leak coolant and was replaced at 53k-58k miles, Cant remember which. Stage 2 since 38k miles |

72k, but 64k of that was from 4/2017 to 7/2021. I've laid off the miles considerably the past two years. Stock turbo let go around 64k; went with the Vargas GC since DAW and Pure were running two month lead times in 2021. Upgraded to the Pure 800 cast/DS2 this past spring. Then the ZF8 started slipping, so sent it off to Pure Drivetrains for some Stage 1 love. Otherwise, just pads @ 37k (gonna do pads/rotors this fall), lots of tires, wiper blades, cabin filters, oil changes, brake fluid flushes, coolant flushes at the turbo swaps, plugs every 15k or so, coils at 64k, injectors @ 71k. Installed a slightly used LSD @ 36k, so should probably think about swapping out that fluid soon.

I may hold the current record.
I'm currently @ 138,0000 miles. Mine has been completely stock it's whole life, but driven quite "spirited". I've consistently changed the oil myself for the entire life of the car @ 8,000 miles. My vehicle history looks similar to many others I've seen. @ 30,000 BMW replaced the blower motor for the climate control. @ 40,000 BMW replaced the charge pipe. @ 55,000 BMW replaced the Oil Filter Housing Gasket & Tranny Fluid change. @ 107,000 I replaced:
Overall, it has been highly reliable. UPDATE 12/2023: Currently @ 149,000 I recently got a fault code for the thermostat and Cat. I'm currently in the process of replacing;

That's what happens when you push the envelope. Was likely somewhere around 650 ft lbs at the tire when the trans started slipping.

I had a check engine light on due to the fuel rail sensor intermittently failing, so changed that as well. I forgot the actual code the led me to that diagnosis. The injectors were done after I had done the valve cover gasket, and figured while I was in there, I'd replace the injectors as well. I also replaced all the spark plugs since I was in there. I was going to do the ignition coils as well, but my research indicated that it wasn't a part that failed very often. I probably should have changed them since I was in there anyways. |

I wouldn’t worry about the coils, they are easy to change. On my 328i, one just failed at 150,000km, so I replaced them all, but I think the more modern BMWs don’t have this issue |

Oh, you've got me beat! I'm only at 123,000 miles!
There's no such thing as a lifetime fluid, but BMW claims the transmission fluid is good for the lifetime of the vehicle for some reason. I guess in a sense they are right; if you don't change it, the transmission will fail, and most people would scrap the car at that point! I did both differentials and the transfer case at the same time as the transmission at 60k, and just did them again at 123k.
