How much trust can you put in a test drive review written by someone who doesn't know the difference between curb weight and gross vehicle weight? 4153 pounds is the gross vehicle weight, which is the maximum weight allowed for the vehicle including passengers and cargo. This seems like basic knowledge for anyone that knows anything about cars.

I'm actually really excited about this car. If I were in a hurry to replace my old X3 right now, and this active tourer were out in the states already, I would probably get this car, or the i3.
I love driving the i3 but it's not that big. This has the practicality of an SUV, possibly great fuel economy, and I think it looks nice. It'll be great for trips and as a family car. This, in Estoril Blue and M Sport, would look sick next to my EBII M235i. |

I think I know what BMW is doing with this type of cars.
They need a bigger product line in order to make better profits over their R&D expenses. But I think they need another brand to do so. It is very expensive to create a new brand, but if they continue this way, they may lower the exclusivity and appeal of the BMW brand. I think they have to be very careful. |

The interior looks amazing, even if it was on a higher end BMW it would fit. I think that it has a lot going for it just for that reason.
MB has been making the A-Klasse and B-Klasse for a long time; if they can play in that segment and still make the S-Klasse which sells without any hiccups regarding exclusivity due to existence of the lower end models, then BMW should be just fine making the 2 Series Active Tourer alongside the rest of the fleet. That all being said, the X0 comment was pretty funny. I also don't get why this is a 2 series when seeing the "real" 2 series, but without going to decimals or letters other than X or M ... BMW has kind of used up all of the whole numbers from 1 - 7 (and 8 but that's been a while). So, they are reusing a number or two. Can you blame them? |

Why does this have a better interior than every BMW that isn't a 5er or higher?
Also that shifter and surrounding area is EXTREMELY well executed. I doesn't look cheap at all. Gloss used and very minimal matte plastic found in other BMWs, specifically the 2er and 3/4er. |

BMW needs a new naming designation for this and I wouldn't care if they make FWD cars.

This will do well in Europe..but please don't bring this to the US. There is really no market here for a FWD 2 series AT.
On a side note, the interior is really nice...better than the 3er

This is a great addition to the BMW family in EU.
I wouldn't expect that much, since the pricetag should be "decent". But then again the mini as a FWD drives great, and the X-drive is an option. But it's competitor is B class. And with such a nice interiour, and it's practical spacy layout and form, it will suit young families and senior drivers. I think it will do better than the 3GT.

and the new Golf Sportsvan is going to give the run for the money to both MB and BMW; the VW is gorgeous to look at and a normally priced. This Active Tourer has the price list of the 3series.

It would be interesting to see this vehicle here in the U.S. and market it.
A new segment where BMW is demonstrating that it can offer more than one would imagine. A car combines the space of an SUV combined with an crossover and dynamic handling and proactive characterizes BMW. Your competitor Benz B Class is in sight! It will be a fight for glory! Munich vs Stuttgart |
