Those were just the specs/configurations which turned up in a VIN search, which is not comprehensive of all possible configurations and options we'll see.

YES, that's what I say as well.
And that's a GREAT thing! Looks like I may do an early 2.5yr lease end instead of waiting the full 3yrs. Hopefully BMW will have some incentives to make it palatable financially. If not I'll continue with my 335i Msport. It's fun-ish to drive, but not as much as my '09 135i or '03 325i sport. |

My take on that is that the M235i is simply a 235i with an "M sport" package, which has become de rigueur at BMW. It's not an M, it's just an M-sport pkg. Why? I think it's because of the new N20 4cyl turbo and how great of an engine it is. The 128i had the sweet legendary BMW NA inline 6, but it was clearly overshadowed by the 135i's N54 and then N55. With the 228i, and it's lighter weight, that coupe will perform quite admirably. So to greater differentiate the 235i version BMW will only bring it as an M-sport with bumped HP/torque over the standard N55, like the one in my 335i Msport. Oddly, I wonder why BMW didn't also give the 435i more stock power? If the M235i does come with 315-320hp, it will have a better power to weight over the 435i. If so, the 2 series will become the more favorable drivers coupe, and the 4 the more luxury coupe. Then, the 2 series sedan will be the return of the "3 series sport sedan". That's of course, IMO. |

i have a feeling - 128, 228, 328, 428 are just a different boxes filled by the simular mechanical parts. How is it different from the audi's "making sausages of different lengths"

Cant wait to see the m2. But whats with all the boring rear bumpers of the new models?? Its too square and bland. Even the e90 msport rear looks so beefy.

HA! i was thinking same thing... debating M235i vs. 435i (sport or M-sport) ... I love the face on this 2-series... but if no 6-speed manual... no dice

..well said... the whole move seems to follow your thinking. 1-2 the size of previous 3-(4).. power/weight . In the aesthetic realm The 2-series still lacks the fusiform elegance of the 4-series in photos... need to see in flesh
