Agree with the Tirerack quote, but the last sentence is not an official statement from anywhere, just hearsay. That's the issue as I see it.

ok, but these are the Cup version, not the OEM MPSS on M235i. And below 20F is quite a bit below freezing (32F).

I run summer non-rft tires year 'round, including when our SE Coastal NC area temperatures get into the 20s in the early morning hours. No snow, just cold. Common sense says drive carefully and don't overdo.

Of course, you can be as skeptical as you wish. My testimony would be an exception to the hearsay rule as an admission against interest by Michelin on the point of the product's susceptibility to failure in cold temperatures. Subsequent warranty coverage would be a second, separate issue.

I can offer having spoken with them directly at their US headquarters in South Carolina, and reaching a second level product expert who advised about compound cracking and recommending not to use the tires below 45 degrees F.

You can evaluate the credibility of that information and decide accordingly. I take them at their word as the most knowledgeable source. Why you may get a different answer about that specific operating temperature from Michelin Australia, I do not know. It could be anything from a different policy to Michelin not doing a great job of internal information flow. But, it is interesting that your reply did not include a numeric temperature value, nor warning about the well-known loss of cold weather traction, but only addressed Australia climate in general terms and boiler plate P.R. language about working with BMW. I also observed their asterisked foot note.
