No, at present my principal use of the M240i is to periodically exercise it, and I'm finally coming around to an obvious fact: check in at Costco along the way. Like...doh!

Minister of Shopping.....I like that! Over here, for the past few decades, I've been cast as Procurement and Supply (and Maintenance) while she is Manufacturing....and from that process....we eat, and the place gets cleaned up!

BMW states that their stuff is Techron, and that is what i use every 4-5k miles. Much cheaper than the branded BMW stuff, especially since there is almost always a two-for-one sale at Advance Auto down the street from me. Either way it is cheap insurance.

Do the math. At $.50 per gallon, you are saving maybe $5.00 with the Costco fill-up. If it is a 40-minute drive, you are probably using about 2 gallons of fuel to get there and back. Oops, there goes the five bucks! Plus, you have spent over an hour on the road. Just saying.
Costco is worth it if it is close by and you have other reasons to go. Maybe not paper goods, though, at least not reliably. |

There's one about 3/4 mile from my house, but I never go to them. First, they charge extra for using a credit card (that practice drives me crazy), but the biggest reason I never go there is that they keep bankers hours. Seriously, I've never seen them open after 5pm, they're not open before 7am, and I think on Sundays they close at 3pm! With those hours, I couldn't get go there even if I wanted to!
There's a Mobile 1/2 mile from me, but they too charge extra for using a credit card. I drive 2 miles to a Shell station that does not charge extra for using credit cards, and it's almost always less expensive than Mobile and BP anyways (even if I were to use cash).

That's like inviting your customers to go elsewhere.

I just drove 400 miles (round) to get to the nearest Shell station, in Bennington VT; they seem to be totally absent from NY for some reason. It is actually the trip thru the ADK, and the bargain single malt that makes it worthwhile, but I envy those of you with nearby shell stations. AFAIK, they still have an improved additive package, above the routine TopTier's, but probably not worth a 400 mile detour. I did save between $5 and 20/bottle, though.

I usually use a non top tier 93 no ethanol gas
(no top tier gas without ethanol in my area). Otherwise it’s Sunoco, Exxon, Mobil, or Shell 93 octane. |

400 miles for good single malt is not too far.
