I only got the nav because I wanted Apple CarPlay (mostly to use the nav on my phone on the screen) and CarPlay requires nav. Crappy part though is that my US spec car can't connect to BMW NA here in Germany to verify the software purchase and activate CarPlay so I can't even use it until I shop back to the states. Sucks because I got the US maps instead of the European maps thinking "Oh I'll just use my phone for the nav while I'm in Europe" ... wrong thinking

Ya my dealer was unaware of this until I picked up my car. There's nothing they can do. The system has to connect to BMW NA, then it verifies with apple's servers that then authorizes the software. It's dumb.
