Bottom line: they're both great cars.
I liken the CLA45 as an Audi RS3 that isn't made of vanilla pudding; its AWD and chassis combo is set up to be very neutral on the road and track, plus it doesn't look like a generic bar of soap. I think the M235i will appease the RWD crowd very well. It's a rounded package that represents the roundel's core values without any frivolities. They've made plenty of comparisons between the A45 and M135i so I think we have a fair idea of what to expect when it comes to these two.

I'm a die hard BMW fan, but I must admit the CLA is a nice small car. It's everywhere here in LA, they are selling the hell outta them.

Other than the nice AMG seats, the BMW interior is much nicer than the Merc CLA, #1 thing Mercedes did wrong was the NAV screen, what where they thinking

the 235 will be tune-able, the CLA is pretty much maxed out.
The CLA it too fugly to consider! You'd have to reverse it into the garage so that you'd never see the back of it. What on earth were they thinking. |
