Looks like what I have in the garage now.
And, I can't get past the hood line being over the emblem, just too fugly. That's keeping from the M4 also. It's hard to spend $80K for a car and see that every day.

An ///M#(series) is still different than an ///M###(i|d) car. People should be concerned with how the cars drive, not what marketing badge is on the car. I don't care if it's the 235i or M235i or 235is. It looks like it could be a great car. I'm not basing my decision to purchase this car because they left an ///M prefix off of it and now I'm like,"Well, now it's not cool/unique, so I won't buy it." |

Can you imagine a 228i with Msport, MT and maybe xenons? No nonsense car which would cost mid 30's. I'm just very excited about the 2er in general. Someone is going to leak pics before Friday for sure. Can't wait.

IMO I'm not judging this car by these photos on anything. Theyre all quick "hope i don't get caught" with bad angle pics. Ill save my true judgment for in person.
But I do think the M235 will look great.

I agree--but the reveal Friday should give us a MUCH better idea of the overall package, specifically the rear...which until yesterday had been the most mysterious part of the car.

Lol you're too much with your conspiracy theory stuff. There was only a hired worker outside of the tent on day one, sticker-ing cell phones. Once this was pointed out, at the end of day one the guard was placed inside the tent. The tent was too small to get full, un-cropped photos-no expert marketing ploy behind it, just the mistake of having the guard outside the tent for the first part of the day. BMW's only mistake was believing in their own client advisors enough to respect the rules in exchange for the privelage of seeing the car ahead of the entire world. Now horrible distorted photos have leaked, and judgement has been made based on those shots, jeopardizing millions of dollars worth of marketing money slated for the next year. I'm sure you've heard the expression "there's only one chance to make a first impression". Last edited by Jaguar; 10-23-2013 at 12:00 PM.. |

I also don't think the average consumer is on a site like this. As a result, the average person will only know this car exists when BMW starts laying it on thick with TV/Internet advertising. You can look at the commercials for the intro of the 4 series as a guide, yes? While the introduction of the 4 series might have garnered a lot convo and might have been sacrilege to the BMW faithful on forums like this, the average person doesn't know or give a shit. As a result, I believe it to be pretty far fetched that three grainy photos could have a real detrimental impact on the sales of the 2 series. And if someone is that stupid, to dismiss a car based on obviously less than perfect angles and picture quality, then oh well to that... I don't know a single person that has ever bought a car based on 3 pictures in an internet forum. Perhaps this is the new trend? If BMW is really that paranoid, they should hire some NSA regulars to do strip searches and pat-downs prior to entering the sacred little tent. Just sayin...

Obviously NSA style security is needed, although due to the massive amount of leaks coming from BMW client advisors that are shown early versions of upcoming models, I believe these types of early sneak peaks will stop. |

Perhaps then those same people do a google search and see that there's no official pics out yet...you can't build one on BMW's website...and......they decide that they will come BACK at some point to see the finished product. I'm just not buying that this type of activity is negative in any way...creates discussion and skepticism amongst those of us who truly care about this model and want to get one...but for the casual person who wants an entry-level BMW, I still don't think they would give a shit.

What am I missing...I thought this car was supposed to compete with the CLA and A3? Other then the FWD aspect so far the CLA is blowing this out of the park on paper, size and style. Seeing the CLA on the road impressed me and I'm not a MB fan at all. Its much bigger and wider then my e90 and the performance numbers and MPG is very impressive. This is with the normal none AMG version. I will have to wait for the 2 Series GC to see if BMW is serious to compete with its rivals in this category.
That said I don't know if I can bring myself to buying a 40k FWD car. I would have to test drive it for sure. |

I never really like the CLA rear but wanted to wait until i saw it in person to make a judgment, because I really like the numbers and attempt at aggressive styling. After seeing it in person, the droopy rear, odd proportions, and weird interior bits (seats are awesome but that tom tom GPS is terrible) were too much for me. I just found the car to be unattractive. That leaves the M235i (which I'm leaning towards) and the S3 sedan. I think the S3 has the edge in exterior looks, even though AM liking what I'm seeing so far from the M235i, but the BMW wins in every other category for me pretty much. |
