I dont know how a car company that offers certain options as standard equipment be classified as "special" but like one forum member said once "the length of ownership will out last the waiting period" |

Dealer just emailed me to say that he has no more info on my September production M240i. No VIN, no production number, no production date. Nada. Is that strange for a car so close (supposedly) to being built? Starting to worry...

Hmph! Hoping they have a tracking website by the time I order my next car. They need more transparency in this whole process.

BMW Canada is so behind on everything. The closest I was able to track it was by calling BMW Canada direct. Only thing suck is the status is vague and they're subject to business hours. In fact, Canada is behind on a lot when it comes to technology. When my late father bought his 2015 vette, he couldn't track his car from the GM site as well even though the US was able to track it online.... argh.

My M240i 6MT convertible delay
As mentioned here, got the bad news on Wednesday that my M240i order has been delayed. It was supposed to be delivered this month. Now, they're saying November. So much for any top-down days this year. Apparently, the cause of the delay is a parts shortage for the manual transmission.
Ironically, I had just that morning sold my current car. Whoops. I was prepared to rent a car for a couple of weeks, but a couple of months -- not so much. I went to the dealer to talk to my sales guy and the first things I see are two M240i convertibles (see one below). Talk about rubbing it in. They were AT, but still. And on the floor, they had a 228 convertible in my colors. Anyway, I was able to get a bit of a price reduction on my car due to the wait, so that makes it a bit easier. And driving this rental Camry for 6-8 weeks will sure make me appreciate the M240i when it finally arrives. I was also able to finally get the production number while I was at the dealership and see its status. So I think this will actually happen -- some day!

Well that sucks! But the good news about another price reduction is pretty fair on their part and sounds good. It'll make the wait even more worth it when you finally get to take ownership.

Got my VIN today! Now madly checking bimmer.work. No production date yet. Oddly, it lists run-flats in my options list. Dealer is looking into that.

Cool, looks like my 230 is on the same ship: "TOSCA". I ordered on Aug 9, production started on Sept 30.

Found out today that due to a mix-up my car will arrive with all-season run-flats in a square setup rather than the staggered summer performance tires I wanted. Ugh. The dealer is working on seeing if he can get them swapped with wheels from another car when it arrives. He knows nothing about whether they'll be able to code in the higher maximum speed that the performance tires are supposed to come with but which won't be included with my run-flat equipped car. Anyone know if that will be an issue? Or will I have to resort to coding it myself?
